There's never been a Linux build. You surely don't think Microsoft would do that, do you?

They are reported to be working with another company to bring .NET to FreeBSD though - in closed-source evilness of course. Better to go with Mono smiley - smiley

I ordered it from someone with a fast connection. I got sick of people I know saying they'd download it for me (they'd been saying that for two and a half months)

Hmm, no Linux enthusiasts around who you could let 'persuade' you about the merits of Free Software, then come 'round and set it all up for you? smiley - silly

The people I know with fast connections take 4 hours to put their clothes on in the morning. I wanted 8.2 before 9.0 came out. I've had access to a CRwriter since 8.0 so now I've got 3 versions and 7 CDs so far.

Right now I'm looking for a gui netware client for mandrake/redhat.

An interesting Story on public sector use of open source in the UK

One of the police forces in the UK is currently trialling some Linux-based desktops, they're hoping that if they do everything they need them to do they can save about £1million a year on computing costs, and they'll have a fairly secure system they can inspect the source code of and improve as necessary. Which, for a police force, would seem to me to be fairly essential, wouldn't you?

on a web question

I have started a site (only has one aussie joke, aren't I a good NZer for holding back) terra.envy.nu The odd thing is, everyone I've shown it to gets a different amount of adds - any ideas?

The police story isn't a surprise. ALL UK Governement/Public sector -

"will consider OSS solutions alongside proprietary ones in IT procurements. Contracts will be awarded on a value for money basis."

So basically if it does the job as well as a MS product (or other commercial, non-open) and is cheaper then it should get the job.
