Lovely morning here in Manchester.
On the way in on the train I was treated to the sight of Glossopdale in the mist as the sun rose over the hills behind. How glad I am not to be commuting to work by tube anymore

I'm an expat in Dubai, UAE.
It's around 39 Centigrade, bright, no clouds and I am sitting in air conditioning feeling sorry for construction workers and missing England's green and pleasant land (but not her unpleasant taxes)

It's almost 10 at night, and it's still so hot -- 83 F and 49% humidity -- so, I'm melting!
Bizarre thing here though -- it can be hot and dry on this side of the mountains, and just 12-15 miles away on the desert (North) side of the mountains (where you'd think it'd be even drier and hotter), it can be storming hard with flash flooding. Something called rain shadow effect(?).
Air from this side warms as it goes North over the mountains, picks up moisture and heat as it climbs, then dumps it in the afternoons on the other side, out of mammoth cumulus clouds you can see towering up over the mountain range. There's been bad flash-floods for the past several weeks just that other side of the mountains, and it hasn't rained in a long time this side.
Does anyone else have contradictory weather conditions like this? Microclimate-wise, I mean.

Except for those two days of humidity reported by Space Cadette 5 days ago, and the week of flashflooding in the desert, it has been pretty much the same here today as it has for the last two weeks.
Just another day in paradise.
