Hi Maz, I hope that you maintain restrictions! Better that than on-again-off-again.
In Southern California, every time we have a year which isn't hovering at drought, they end the restrictions, only to clap them on again the next year. Better to be in conservation mode all the time than retrench over and over again. Easier on the environment. Not to mention on people's temperatment.

Yes SC I agree. We should have the restrictions all the time. As our population increases the demand will increase. Unfortunately people in oz seem to think they need English country gardens in drought areas!! Also for some strange reason heaps of people also like to hose down their driveways!!!
1030pm here and it has been raining most of this evening and there is more to come. Currently 10C

Lovely day again, cooler tonight, hot again tomorrow they say.
I presume Isabel is something windy?

Isabel is indeed something windy,
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3114160.stm
a 300mile wide hurricane, about to hit the east coast, somewhere between South Carolina and Virginia.

Just was part of our national news broadcast, they say it will blow out considerably in the next 24 hours. On the other side of the continent it is cooler and wetter, with the local media revealing the water restrictions were due to poor management (one of our resevoirs has enough water for 100 million for a month in a city with only 2.1 million).

Maz, I have to say, if my dad had ever caught my brother or sister or I hosing down the driveway, he'd have had a county-wide fit! I can still hear him, when my brother suggested it, for the one and only time:
"Easier? NO! That's what brooms and kids are for!!"

Isabel was a bit of a disappointment, there's lots of little branches down but nothing exciting. A prof termed it "a tropical afterthought"

First real rain for many weeks, for about an hour this afternoon. High winds, torrential rain, overcast skies, plummeting temperatures. Lovely.
Sorry about the death toll from Isabel - hope all the hootooers are all right.
