Surprisingly mild here for Scotland at this time of year, I went out the door at 07.00 this morning, to greet the New Year, and this gigantic low hanging thing hung right above me......it was the sky?
Happy New Year to everyone who knows me
Smudger.

Overcast today. It rained in the night and there were puddles when I went out at 2pm for a walk. Temperature low 20s. Hardly any wind to speak of. This is the first dull day we've had since Christmas.
Had to put on a shirt over my T-shirt when I went for my walk.

75/23 today, 51/10 overnight. Winds gusting 25/30 from the North, so the chill factor in the morning should feel like 45 degrees.
Winter has arrived!

Strong winds have just hit Peckham. Heavy rain forecast for later.
I'm pleased that after about 18months of 'drought' there's been a genuine re-establishment of the westerly airflow in this part of UK.
Last summer which was coolish generally, we really didn't get that much rain here...even other parts of London got much more than us.

Happy New Year from Central London. It's Tuesday 3rd January 2012 at 09.50.
It's a dark, grey, overcast morning in London. There are some strong winds. In around the City, that makes for a blustery morning. It's not raining a great deal, but with the blustery conditions, it's impossible to not get a bit wet. Even in the gloom, one can see the lower clouds racing across the sky. It's reasonably mild for January - about 12c. Overall, it feels more like a blowy March day than a January day.

Its been unseasonably warm the past few days.
The Mt. Baldy, Mt. San Gorgonio, snow pack @~ 10,000ft has melted down to muddy slush. The Mt. San Jacinto snow pack @~ 9,500ft looks somewhat more persistent, but not by much. (Difference is that the Mt. Baldy, Mt. San Gorgonio snow pack is fully exposed to the afternoon sun, while that of Mt. San Jacinto is in the shadow of the Santa Rosa Mts.)
I've never seen the Mt. Baldy, Mt. San Gorgonio snow packs melt off so early before. They usually persist until June and sometimes till the end of August.
Unless there's (a lot) more rain and snow between now and June, this may be an extraordinarily dry and hot year. (1996 summertime maximum at 136F/58C, the usual summer maximum in a typical year is 119F/49C.)
Summertime water shortages possible.

It's a really changeable day here in Central London. It was really windy and rained a lot last night. The rain has mostly cleared off now, but it's still very windy. At this moment it is bright and sunny, but less than ten minutes ago it was overcast and grey and spitting rain a little bit. And looking into the sky in the distance, I think it could be back to that again in another ten minutes.
The temperature is around 10c, but it feels more like 3 or 4c with the wind, so it feels a bit chilly.

It's exactly 50/10 outside, with about 90 percent humidity and no wind.
It shouldn't feel cold, but it does. The humidity takes it down to the bone. High temperature on Sunday predicted to reach 78.

Good morning from St Pauls in central London. It's a very mild day again today, with the temperature about 12c, a very slight south westerly breeze and a grey overcast sky. There are some pretty dark clouds approaching so could be some rain soon.
It's still unseasonably mild for January. Feels like we've not had winter at all yet (apart from the ridiculously short days).
It's Tuesday 10th January at 09.20.
