Very grey and cloudy here in London today. It's probably slightly milder than it has been the last few days, but there's a bitingly cold wind blowing whichi is making it feel quite chilly. It's 11.30am right now and though it's above freezing, the temperature feels like it's around -3c or -4c. Humidity is fairly high too so it feels like quite a damp sort of cold.

Currently 1*F/-17*C and it feels great. We are being promised a January thaw and the temperatures may actually get above freezing by Thursday. Maybe some of our ice and snow will have a chance to melt. Yippee, finally out of that brutal cold, at least for the moment!!

It has started to snow just before 9:00 am but it's light snow. The top temperature now is 0°C and the wind speeds are 10 E.

It's snowing in central London this morning. We've had about 3 inches settled before dawn and it's still coming down now albeit very lightly. The current temperature is hovering around zero, maybe 1c. Kind of took us by surprise since there was supposed to be a bit of a thaw today. Still could happen I suppose.

this morning was like walking on glass to get to the second bus stop, as the first was being left out on the estate.

on the way home i saw water running down the streets, so at last the thaw aas begun, but is this the end of the snow.

At last our long, horrible winter has passed. We set two new all-time cold records, as well as some of the highest speed gusts of winds out of the north. New record low: 42 degrees F. New record wind chill: 28 degrees F, same day. Frostproof, Florida, has now had a frost for the first time in recorded weather history.

Today it is forecast to be rainy and 74 degrees F.

Strange earlier on in the morning about half a mile away a field on a hill near some woods was covered with a hard frost but the surrounding areas weren't.
