Looks like it's going to be another scorcher!
Right now (11:25) it's bright and sunny. Some wind and fluffy white clouds in a slightly hazy sky.
Earlier on at about 5 o'clock this morning I along with about a dozen others at a car park and viewpoint near here were treated to watching the sun rise as a red crescent during the partial eclipse Amazing

The weather in Manchester has been so amazing these past couple of days!! it's dry and really warm today with clear skies!
I come from Cyprus, and the weather there is dry and warm every day in summer! well it's actually really hot (it goes up to 38 degrees) in June, July and August so we are used to that kind of weather, and don't really bother with it. It's the same as having another rainy day in England.

until 20:00? that is so late. Is it normal to work until that time every day or is it just a one off? Someone told me that people work until 5 or 6pm in England.

My husband gets into the office around 7.30 am, w*rks until 7.00 pm on a 'quiet' day (including visits to clients' sites anywhere in the UK) then he will come home and put in at least 3 hours on his laptop.
He does try to keep Saturdays w*rk free, but will spend most of Sunday catching up on paperw*rk and preparing for the coming week.
At 6.35 pm, it's still sunny and 25ºC

Maybe it depends on the job you do like doctors work long hours as they deal with patients and have to be on call all the time. In Cyprus, people who work in offices work normally from 9-5 or the latest until 6pm. Employers don't really expect them to work longer than that as they know that most people would start complaining if they had to that they aren't spending enough time outside of work and doing their own thing.
My husband will get a job soon with a software company here in England and he said that the hours are flexible so he wouldn't need to come home late every day.
Is it normal though to work so many hours every day in England when you work in an office or doing an important job except of course doctors?

O.K. down in Southamerica, Pernambuco, Olinda, coasttown, it is hot, hot, hot (30ºC in the shade) for the third year running when it is supposed to be the rainy season which seems to have disappeared from this part of the world. We sleep with air-conditioning and during the day get our hair blown about by fans all over the house. I use the same light, short shirts and shorts every day like a uniform, year in and year out. Leisure time is going to the air-conditioned Shopping
Centers that used to be cool enough to permit the use of long sleeves and a look that makes one feel just a little different, but I guess they have given up and turned their air down again. To bath in the sea does not bring much relief because the water has the temperature of childrens' pee, as one tourist told me. If one moves, one drips. Well, I am off to drink some more water.
