Essex dark and rainy , took me longer to drive home roads nearly gridlocked, probably an accident on A13.

Chicago, Illinois. Right now, temperature-wise, it's quite nice out (41.8°F / 5.4°C), but it's overcast and looks like rain. I guess the overcast doesn't really matter much- it's half past three and will be dark within the hour anyway.

Evening all. Eastbourne, south south of England. It's been sunny but rainy today, quite warm and according to the little electric thermometer in my cupboard it's been 73f or 23c all day.

I haven't been out yet (shame on me) but here in Eastbourne it's quite blowy and it looks like it might rain any time now.

Calm, very light white haze, and warm, with a hot indirect sun, at 23C. Hummingbirds are still at my feeder, my lightly blooming fuchsias and suddenly deciding to riot jasmine azoricum. They have not shown any signs of migration yet. Passionflower butterflies, way too late for the season, are still dancing in fluttery trios around my vines, to what end I do not know. One of my hydrangeas is totally unaware that it's late autumn, and is slowly putting out soft, subtly growing flowerheads, shifting gently into color from a white centered springgreen to a soft crisply crystalline veined blue in the relatively low heat (for a hydrangea). Still too warm at night (12C) to plant the Golden Apeldoorn tulips I've got in my refrigerator crisper, so may have to treat them as forcers like last year. Saw some spiders ballooning by last week, but none of them seem to have alit in my garden, alas.

It is the second time I have seen a rainbow in two weeks. It is
the second time this week that I have spotted a bumble bee. I have always noticed that when bees around, fine weather usually follows.

Well it's 9:50 here in Eastbourne. The sky is blue, it's lovely and sunny and there's not a cloud in sight, but there's condensation on our windows and it's probably colder than it looks out there.
