Reasonably bright, dry and calm, but chilly willy - about 2-3c. It's been bloody freezing the last few days. Was at the England France game yesterday and sat in a stadium for two hours, I've never been so cold in my life!

Very dull and overcast. Still cold, but at least the icy wind has dropped.

A fat lazy tropical depression has been lingering over the basin for the last 48 hours and is dumping several rainy-seasons-worth of water, pausing as the eye passes by, and then dumps some more catteries and kennels all over again.
My violas are being pounded, and my freesias are going to get a blast of surprise when their still developing buds open, which they have been promising to do. I have new admiration for the toughness of sweet william, they're being hit badly in the front of the border, and are still blooming freely.

Yesterday I was in Glendale, not visiting Space Cadette or anything, only Levi's were on sale at a store there. There was a brief respite in the downpour. Because Glendale is hilly, the sky was very low and chock full of water. It was limpid and clear, but it was exactly midafternoon, so it was as brightly lit as possible. The entire world turned into a broad spectrum of silvery grey, much like an old black and white movie. I wonder if this is where they got their inspiration?
Later on in the afternoon, the clouds lowered and swirled themselves on the hills, still without raining. Since it's been raining here for several weeks now, the hills were quite green, so for a few minutes, instead of their usual M*A*S*H (the TV series) look, Glendale and Eagle Rock were Tolkien's Middle Earth.

The sun is shining, and most of the street is visible without being underwater! Thunderclouds scudding in at speed.

Yesterday morning I was sat on the promenade in full sunshine*
This morning I was walking to the station through a couple of inches of snow. By the time I've got to work in the city there is no snow.
*This was in Funchal, Madeira

This morning my little part of The Midlands is absolutely gorgeous
Snow so white it's almost blue. Here and there, the crocus are showing their little yellow and purple heads.
There's a pattern of paw footprints all over the lawns.
I have cleared a space on the patio so the birds can get to their nuts and seeds
Honest, you have to be here to appreciate it

Central London - 0925 - 23 February
0c, scattered clouds, dry and crisp. My road was an ice rink this morning. My two minute walk to the tube took ten minute and then I realised I had left my wallet and travelcard at home, so had to go back, then come back again. So my two minute walk to the tube ended up taking the bones of half an hour!!
