The DJ Bobo & Irene Cara remake of "What a Feeling". (DJ Bobo being Switzerland's only ever popstar. Ever.

Or, of course, Hanson's "Mmmbop". (forgive me if I misspelt "Mmmbop")

And how dare you diss Eurovision!!! Thanks to the beeb, I won one of their competition CDs signed by Terry himself!!!!!

I'm off to play Greece's S.A.G.A.P.O. again.

Ooh. Actually count that one as the worst songs ever made!

For those too young to have suffered it, it was total ****

The M. Manson cover was of the Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams".... and not bad either... i wonder if his make up runs in the rain?
I forgot.... when the Berlin Wall came down, didn't the song that represented freedom, love and peace get sung by bloody M. Hassolhoff?

DA ; Simply Vicky: Don't get pithy with me!

Sorry - I *love* Shut Uppa Your Face! (Probably just memories of what I was doing at the time - November 1980.) O/wise it *is* pretty bad. I *so* agree about the All Saints ruining of Under the Bridge!smiley - zen

paulh, vaccinated against the Omigod Variant

There are people who remember the schlockiest
1970s songs with disgust.

smiley - musicalnote
Feelings, nothing more than feelings.
tying to forget myyy feelings of love....

smiley - musicalnote
Memories like the corners of my mind.
Misty watercolor feelings of the way we were.....

There are people who will never forgive
Barry Manilow for "Copacabana." Others think
the Village People ruined music (like there
was anything to ruin? smiley - erm).

I'd like to add my voice to those who couldn't stand Cliff Richard's Millenium Prayer. (I'll add Richard's voice as well, so there's at least 4 - 5 votes for that record).

I'd also like to mention (although I'd also like to forget) certain foreign artistes singing appalling songs in heavily accented English. Major offenders are Demis Rousoss and Rene & Renata. Nana Moussaka (can't remember how to spell Mouskouri) looked like a school teacher that had been let out for the day, but she had a decent voice compared to the others.

That'll be apart from synth-pop masters Yello and metal-heads Krokus then? smiley - winkeye

Lady in a tree

Just remembered a real smiley - yikes shocker...

The Telephone Man by Meri Wilson!!

"Hey Baby, I'm the telephone man, if you show me where you want it, then I'll put it where I can. I can put it in the bedroom, I can put it the hall, I can put it in the bathroom I can hang it on the wall..."

(bet you're all singing it now and won't be able to stop for a couple of hours....sorry!)

Never heard it but 10 out of 10 to the lyricist.smiley - laugh
Reminds me of Nick Lowe's 'Switchboard Susan';
'When I talk to you I get an extension,
I'm not talking bout graham Bell's invention.'

Gnomon - time to move on

Surely it was Lieutenant Pigeon, not Sgt Pigeon, that sang "Mouldy Old Dough"?

This classic consisted of a young man on flute, a granny on piano and a gravel-voiced, bearded drummer. The only lyrics were "Mouldy Old Dough".

You can call me TC

There was an atrocious thing went round Europe in the 80s called "Life is Life" - by an Austrian band called "Opus" who have since thankfully submerged themselves in oblivion.

I can't remember who recorded it, but there was a track in the early 80s (around 1982ish) called 'Dear John' (I think) which was pretty dreadful. It had no real tune and the lyrics were pretty meaningless. I believe that it was supposed to last for the amount of time you had after the nuclear warning siren went off. I grew to hate the record so much that it almost made me wish the siren would go off - preferably with the artiste at ground zero.

I can't remember who recorded it, but there was a track in the early 80s (around 1982ish) called 'Dear Superman' (I think. Ignore the 'Dear John' in the previous posting, although the song did have 'Dear John' in the lyrics) which was pretty dreadful. It had no real tune and the lyrics were pretty meaningless. I believe that it was supposed to last for the amount of time you had after the nuclear warning siren went off.
