"la la la la la, owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww".....
Minnie Riperton, "Loving You", if I'm not mistaken.

"Minnie Riperton, "Loving You", if I'm not mistaken."
That was one of the songs that always got played in the shop I used to work in. I hated it, but I had a mental image of it being sung by some naive housewife doing the dishes, whilst the husband she was singing it about was, unbeknown to her, pumping his secretary.
That made it a bit more bearable

Chris Morris's TV show "Jam" forever changed the way I'll hear Minnie Ripperton.
Picture an idyllic woodland scene, the camera shooting between leafy boughs. The music starts...
The camera pans down... to find a large, redhaired lady, leaning over a tree, miming the words. She jerks slightly every now and then... the music continues...
The camera pulls back, and the reason for the rhythmic jerking becomes clear - she's being beaten on the bottom with a space hopper by a man wearing large grey Y fronts. The camera pans away....
I'll never get that picture out of my head. Thanks Chris...
H.

Bizarre! Once again, I lay myself open to possible ridicule, but I actually *liked* that Minnie Riperton song. Sort of.

Hmm, the worst record ever made...
Any of the cover versions done by recent pop bands! (not the originals, they are (in most cases) quite good!)

Oh yes, I agree about remakes! What's worse, is when kids think some rip-off is the original! Lady Marmalade, Killing Me Softly, Under the Bridge - and I did hear that there was an execrable rap/hip-hop version of Cat Stevens 'Father and Son'. Sacrilege!

Hopefully it hasn't been and never will be recorded, but did anyone else suffer the sad, laughable excuse for a group they tried to pass off as Queen at the Jubilee concert on Monday? Will Young limping painfully through "We Are The Champions" - if I'd had a gun I'd have shot the television set.

Indeed!
Dr EV. That was largely my opinion of the Freddie Tribute concert - great when the bands played their own stuff but when they tried to sing in place of Freddie
Glad I missed it all really.

The bloke from the Queen stage show who sung "Bohemian Rapsody" (sorry about my dodgy spelling) did a good job.
I think the highlight of that Jubilee concert was Ozzy Osbourne, it's a shame the Queen wasn't there to see it!

I have a splendid mp3 version of I Wanna Be Sedated by John Hiatt and his band-banjoes and mandolins galore.
It ends with a lovely dedication to the Ramones for '25 years of being a great American Folk group'.
Never a truer word spoken.
