Well, if you truly are looking for nice, friendly guys I would suggest doing some charity work. Through that you should be able to meet some.

although the only problem is that most nice friends guys are already taken! (thats why there are so few of them around!)

How many men do you know that do Charity work. And why is that the only place both men would hang out? Can't they be nice and fun and not do charity work?

They don't have to do charity work. But it would be a good starting point for finding nice guys.

I think the best place to meet these elusive nice freindly guys, is at your nearst nice freindly guys club.

Haven't seen one of those. Unless you mean some Victorian Gentlemen's Club.

No.
For your nice friendly guys, you should try your quiet local pubs, those with minimal annoying music and a bar you can get served at with minimum fuss. Speaking as an NFG, we prefer gentle conversation with other regular customers rather than the noise and crowds of inner city bars.

As the wife of an NFG (oh yes, I bagged mine and I'm glad ) I would also say look around at work, as he may be sitting quietly at his desk and you may walk straight past him.
Failing that, I would add my vote to the charity/volunteer work stuff.
Me and my husband met at work, and he used to do charity and volunteer work... he's still a Scout leader for the local troop, too. So it does work!

Hello! Did you miss me? I was gone all week long!!!
I missed you guys.
To continue my travel subject--I have travelled a short distance by boat, bicycle, and on foot.
I have travelled long distances by car.
I went to New York and China by airplane. I had a layover in Vancouver, Canada.
I have not been to anywhere else because travel is expensive and I've never had a job that I could just abandon for more than a couple of days.
I would love to go to Europe, Australia, and the UK. Someday. My officemates call me the girl who's never been anywhere or done anything, because every time we go out somewhere I'm always saying "I've never done this before!" My horizons are widening, though. I love to explore and try new things. Except death-defying things. I'd rather not do that. You know, defy death. Well, maybe mildly defy death. But no sky-diving.

Glad to have you back Jessie =)
I've been rather absent myself. At least on the forums here. Been enjoying my 14 days of freedom at home... That is, until they found me, hogtied me and threw me into a chopper and flew me back out to the oilrig... Grrrr
Nothing like browsing h2g2 and put in a few posts here to kill some time though =)
Sounds like you enjoy travelling Jessie. I wouldn't mind travelling more myself either, but to travel alone is only sometimes enjoyable. Personally I rather prefer company when I travel, and perferably with someone close to me =)
Places I'd love to visit though are US West coast, Canada, New Zealand, UK and perhaps swing by some tropical island, aka Hawaii and that type of place. Never been to one of those, and its a must do, at least once in life =)

I love California...so you must visit here. All the way up the coast, it's incredible. Expensive, but incredible.
I do like to travel! Even if it's just a daytrip! Tell you what, though. I really love home. I am a homebody to the end. I love my bed, my floors, rugs, closets...stuff. I love to be home. So long-term traveling is stressful. I am most at peace when I'm home doing homey things. And I agree with you...traveling alone is sometimes tough...much better to have someone to share sights with, snuggle on trains with, etc. But we do the best we can, eh?
Have fun on the oilrig, Mouse. I just paid $2.49 per gallon for 10 gallons of gas. California has the highest gasoline prices in America, I think. Lucky me, huh? Hope the recent price spike hasn't got anything to do with all the work and time it took to get you to come back to your job....

Well, we pay 10NOK (Norwegian Crowns) per liter of gas.
That would be 1.56US$ per liter.
1 gallon = 3.79 liters.
So, we pay 1.56$ x 3.79liter = 5.91US$ per gallon.
And you think Cali is expensive, hah! =)
Maybe I should come visit Cali, and you could be my tour-guide! Roller-blades or by car, anything goes!
Hopefully we can keep the prices low by working efficiently out here. After all thats what we want. Getting the oil up at affordable prices. Unfortunately though, for consumers, the oil price has skyrocketed lately and now they are selling oil like no tomorrow. Which is good for us in one way, meaning company goes well and we have greater chances of getting raises and extra bonuses, but on the other hand, it means more expensive gas for our cars and so forth.
Can't get everything I suppose =)
Luckily, I'm scratching off day No. 6, meaning I only have 8 days left out here before I go home! woot! 6 / 14 days! Or 0/8 really, I like to see things on the bright side and 8 is alot less than 14 =P

ok, you win.
I get about 30 miles to the gallon, which isn't bad. But still, with the way I drive here, it can cost me $50.00 a week for gas.
Not lately, though, since I have been staying with a friend who lives less than a mile from my work. I could walk, except that it's been so hot the last few weeks.
Hey, yeah, I would totally be your tour guide! The best time to come is September/October or April/May. January is also gorgeous, usually mild. You can catch the Rose Parade, which is apparently world famous.
Honestly, we'd probably travel by car or public transportation. Easiest.
Just a funny observation: native Californians never refer to California as "Cali," but it seems, everyone everywhere else does. I say "SoCal" in reference to Southern California, my home region, but mostly I say the whole word. it's one of the ways you can tell people who aren't from here. Not that it's bad or anything. We like people from everywhere. Especially Norwegians on rollerblades.

4 shifts left, and I'm OUTTA here! 3 actually, if I don't count the one I am on now. Yeah, that sounds better...
3 shifts left, and I'm OUTTA here!
Can't wait to get home... and waste my 14 days of freedom trying to set up my new Alienware Laptop, tossing in a few hours of gaming on World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2, then burn even more hours, or days, going to the movies or going out jogging with a friend of mine.
Not alot of rollerblading going on around here. Though there are *alot* of people who have their skates ready if we have 2 days of freezing weather and an inch of ice on the water =p Ice Skating is great fun, and I always go skating if there is weather for it. Ever since I was a kid we used to skate every winter ^.^
I suppose I have permission to hog you as my Tour Guide then if/when I come to California =) Been thinking about going to the UK this winter, since I dont have an electronic passport thingie that we need to enter the US of A nowadays. Either that, or apply for a visitor visa to use along with my old passport. Bit much hassle that. I like to just fly and not worry about applying for something ages ahead of time.
Maybe spring or fall next year though ^.^ Never been to US west coast so that would be great fun =D
First stop, some kinda mojo shop that sells rollerblades?! I sure could use the exercise after all the free food out on the oilrigs. Starting to get alittle tummy, which is a bad thing! Then again, maybe I'll just fit in better with the average american guy then. Or maybe I need another 100lbs to reach the average american guy? =P To eat or not to eat, was that a question?
Not sure how the public transport is over on the west side. In NYC it was awesome. 2$ and you could go anywhere with the subway =) Still have a metrocard from my NYC visit. In D.C. though I met up with a friend, and they drove me all over, so I didn't use public transport once my entire stay in D.C. and Virginia.
Anyways, before I get back to "work" again, expect a Norwog to plan a Cali-fornia visit sometime soon ^.^

aaah, those 14 days will go by in nothing flat.
I don't even own rollerblades anymore, to tell you the truth. They're out of fashion, I suppose...but that's not why I don't have any. i assure you, fashion is not the first thing I consult when I decide what to own. It's in there, but not first. I don't own them because I have damaged the tendons and ligaments in my left foot a few times, and I haven't the strenth for a lot of skating. I like the idea of ice skating, but we only have a few rinks I know of, and it was never on the list of things to do when I was growing up. I wish it had been though.
When I went to NYC it was spring, so it was still a little cold but no ice left to skate on. I took a taxi once, but never even glanced at a subway. I was 17, with my grandmother, and the only places we went that didn't involve a tour bus or a taxi were the 5th Avenue Presbyterian church for Easter and Broadway theatres for famous musicals. I would love to go back and do New York my way...eating in interesting hole-in-the-wall restaurants, shopping in the village, seeing off-broadway plays, going to a club or two and taking the subway everywhere I could. I also want to visit London, Paris, Rome, etc....and Chicago, Ill. Oh, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Catch you later....
