How about the oldest thing in your freezer - this should extend the time period extensively.
My lodger has had a tub of Snickers Ice Cream in there for the last year! I finally cracked and took a look the other day and it is *still* unopened. I daren't try it - the freezer is only so nothing should be in there for more than a month!

The oldest thing in my fridge is a bottle of lemon juice - best before apr 96.
The oldest thing in the freezer would be the .
We rescued him from the 9 years ago and kept him in a budgie cage, feeding him food with the wrong end of a spoon, (as instructed by the expert) but he died after a couple of days.
The man wanted us to keep him in the freezer till he could send someone to pick him up, cos he didn't belong to any of the local species.
He's well wrapped in several layers of newspaper and pizza bags, but we have had to stop several visiting teenagers who thought pizza seemed like a good idea...

So the guy never came to pick up the bat? In any case, it will make a nice decoration for halloween.

oldest thing in my fridge : a little ceramic pot with honey in it, which was a birth-gift from my youngest niece, who will be three years old on the 16th of September...
(I know!)
I never meant to eat it, anyway...

Freezer: Snowballs from last winter (I'll use them sooner or later).
Fridge: Nothing special - there's very little in there. Once had an orange go unnoticed in the back of a drawer. When rediscovered, it was a pile of grey dust and molds.

With Grandad Weatherwax's appetite, nothing ever gets anywhere near it's sell-by date and he's still a 29 inch waist . The oldest things in the freezer are ice cubes with herbs in.

Some herbs keep better if frozen rather than dried.

Isn’t this a lovely thread! We are all making each other feel so much better that we are not alone in our squalidness. In my house I am the one who uses up all those past BB date things. Other half despairs. Kids make that “eeyoo” noise. Got hoist by own petard (?) a few weeks ago by opening a tube of mushroom pate that was BB 1998. Made a butty. Very tasty - no problem. went around crowing about wimps and wot were BB dates for anyway.
Next day made another big one with lots of pate
Large bite
Immediate dash for kitchen receptacle due to intense taste of vomit
life-changing experience
won't do that again

sorry - the freezer ones just sounded too nice - not squalid enough

The oldest thing in my freezer is Christmas pudding made by my Grandma probably 14 years ago. She's now dead, but having the pud in the freezer makes me feel better. I will eat it one day - I'm just waiting for the perfect Christmas.

Freezer:
Oh dear I just remembered I had a freezer when I moved in! Oh well. It must be in the basement somewhere.
Fridge:
Two rolls of unexposed 8mm Kodak movie film circa 1966 and about an ounce of fine lesbianese hashish stashed in the meat of a Big Mac back when John Travolta could still dance. The burger is wrapped in foil and sits in a styro-foam (pre-eco-friendly) box with a note saying, "Do not open except in case of neuclear attack."

"and about an ounce of fine lesbianese hashish stashed in the meat of a Big Mac back when John Travolta could still dance"
I just know I'll pay for this, but what in the world is "lesbianese hashish"? It's been a while since I inhaled, but that kind of stuff didn't used to have a sexual preference!
Clever precautions, though; Armageddon needs accompaniment.
You made my day with that one! Thank you!

One of my friends had a hamster that died when she was about 8 and she didn't want to bury him or get rid of the dead hamster or anything because she still wanted to be able to see him so her parents froze the dead hamster and as of three years ago the hamster was still there. As far as I know, the hamster remains in the freezer to this day. I think I will ask her next time I see her if the hamster is still in the freezer. It's probably been about ten years since the thing died.

Take the Kodak film to development. A guy did it with a photo he found in a an old camera he bought at an auction somewhere in the USA. When he developed it, it turned out it was a picture of his wife´s family taken in England 50 years earlier.
