h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, I know the people I´ve been doing courses with which amounts to about 30 in total. Outside of that I don´t really know anyone. In Ireland they had an abundance of sports and social clubs, here they seem to have hardly any. I showed up for volleyball three times, but being the only person there it wasn´t much fun. I´ll be trying to get to some international parties, I might have better chances there.

Playing Volleyball on your own would be a quick game!

November 1st in London?

I´m just trying to get money for food, I don´t think heading to London would be a good idea. I have an exam next week, perhaps I can get some people to come out partying afterwards.

I just talked to a girl who grew up in this town, about good ways to meet girls besides parties. She didn´t seem to have much ideas, except joining these amateur theater things they have.

Here's a list of places that Ive met some nice friendly girls down the years:

Coaching a women's rugby team.

Working in a pub.

Out drinking with a freind and his girlfriend.

Out dancing and drinking.

Working in a factory.

At college.

On holiday.

Meeting peopleisnt hard the world isfull of the bleeders, but waiting patietly till you meet someon who you share a mutual spark of attraction with is trying. Thing is if that's all you are stressing and obsessing about then you are probably undermining yourown ambitions and what is more you missing out on just having fun meeting new people.

Just don't let yourself get blue about it. Are these amateur theatre things more populated than the volleyball? (Apols if you've said im previous post, I did a quick scan!). I know it's easier for us that are in our home country where people speak the same language. Though now I've found out that Sweden really is full of tall blue-eyed blondes, I may have to pay a visit!

That is of course if things don't go well with WorkGuy...
Today's goings on: Asked him if he was coming out Saturday, he says he is, plus I've got the other fella promising to bring him out
WG was chatty and smiley and hangy-aroundy today. I attempted a "hello handsome" as we crossed paths but someone else spoke loudly at the same time so I don't know if he heard it or not.. you can't really try it again can you!
He is quite shy, so probably isn't sure unless he's practically told outright.
So, tomorrow, I'm going to tell him that "I just want to say,I like you, a lot, and I'd love to see you outside of work, and if you don't, that's cool, we'll still be mates, but I just wanted it to be clear, that I really like you." and see what happens

I don't like the idea of 'lining him up', if I wasn't leaving my job tomorrow I'd have a bit more time between relationships. I've had a crush on him for aaaages. (Generally quite a strong sign that your missing something in your current relationship.)

So, if all goes well, and he does come out Saturday, and we get on really well, and he goes to kiss me.. I'll have to say no, because I haven't moved out of the shared house yet. No matter how much I may want a snog, I'd feel absolutely awfully crappy if I did it without this other relationship being completely done and dusted.

Well I told WG I liked him, and it'd be nice to see him outside of work, and if he agreed, cool, if he didn't then we'd still be mates, but I just wanted to get if off my chest. He didn't say ay or nay, so I left it with him. When we left work he said he'd see me tonight at the leaving Doo.
Cool, but not over the moon, because to make sure there was absolutely no chance of any crossover, this morning I broke up officially with OH.
Told him I was moving out today, I didn't want the break-up hanging over my head all week (as it has done for the last month), and just wanted to get it over and done with, have plenty of Large drinks tonight, and tomorrow start the next part of my life. All of which is absolutely true.
It has been on my mind that we're meant to be out on Friday, so what were we meant to do.. wait till the house was empty then say that's it? I can't be doing with that on my head all week, with a whole house to clear out. I'm rambling because I feel bad. I don't know why I feel bad, I've done the right thing. I don't wanna put off the next nice guy for a week and risk losing whatever it is we may do. Thought about it but put myself in his shoes and imagined being told "well yes I do like you, but would you mind waiting a while, I'm still breaking up with my boyfriend".
Thinking about it, the feeling bad probably also has something to do with the fact that a 3 year relationship has just ended.

That was probably a good thing to do. Now you can go and boink Work Guy with a clear conscience. Let us know how things go tonight.

WG didn't show. Ah well, I'm still glad I got it off my chest.

A real shame Work Guy didn´t show up. Still, you should give him a call and ask him out in a few weeks.

I don't have his number but even so, I wouldn't ask a second time. I'll still be going out with work people so I'll make sure I look fabulous in case we cross paths!
It may be a good idea to be single for a while.

I´ll be getting a new flatmate soon. Perhaps if it will be a woman, I could meet some of her friends.

pah, he complains about getting a girl to kiss him, now he's complaining about 2 kissing him at the same time!

Oh I wasn´t complaining. It was also rather good seeing them two of them getting it on.

I was also at a party last night, which had mostly foreign people. It was a lot easier chatting women up in English than in Swedish. It was going well with this Moravian girl but turned out her boyfriend was there.

I went on a date with a astrophysics student here before christmas. It went well, and she was saying she had a really great time. She told me to let her know when I came back from christmas holiday. Now I´m back she seems to be avoiding me. I don´t really see what I did wrong here.

I asked her if she wanted to come over for some dinner and movies. She said she would let me know the day after if she could make it. It´s been a week now.
