Where can I find some nice friendly girls?
Xanatic Posted Apr 30, 2002
My roommate was having a party saturday for her colleagues. One of the girls I talked to, afterwards told her she thought I seemed like a great guy

Well, get-together then. It wasn't that partyish.

Tonight there is the Books & Lovers party. It will be interesting. You're supposed to have a polaroid taken at the door, and then write your fave book underneath. And you can also get to read some stuff from it. I was thinking it would be a good chance to promote H2G2 a bit If I get over my shyness
I just hope there will be some girls there.

Just remember they're probably just as shy as you are.
Or try on a non-shy persona for an hour or so. Zaphod for instance...

If I did get up there and had to read a passage from one of the books, what part would you recommend?

either the classic bit with the cup of tea or the amazingly lyrical part about making sandwiches. (Why have they both got to do with food?) Or maybe the cricket match - typically surreal.

We've probably got different editions - and I've only got it in English.

Okay I am back again. There were some women there, but as expected the men outnumbered them. Also a few couples which seemed stupid. I also met someone from my work there
All in all, not that many people there and it seems people left quite quickly. I talked to a few girls but none of them seemed like anything special. There was one girl around my age, and pretty as well, who had written "The Tao of Pooh" as her favorite book. That sounded quite interesting and I wanted to talk to her but she left before I had the chance.
There was also a guy who wrote his fave book as Hitchhikers... I would have told him about h2g2 but I don't think I saw him.
And apparently women aren't into monkeys either.

No, but the next day I went to a monkey park they have in Holland. Got the largest group of gorillas in europe(or maybe the world). But besides a few couples there weren't any girls my age. All just parents and children. I was hoping to find a teenage Jane Goodall

But surely you'd need to be Unseen University's Librarian to stand a chance with her?

Well, I was thinking just swinging naked around in trees showing off my banana.

I don't know if this country also has laws on running naked in the streets actually.
But it was quite interesting being in that park. You were a lot closer to the animals than in a zoo. You didn't have to just see them on the other side of bars. You could feed them and touch them.

Not bananas no. You weren't actually allowed to feed the animals any of your own food. But I saw the skull monkeys were eating some flowers off the trees. So I just picked some of those and fed to them. It was an easy way to get them over to you. For some reason they'd be sitting on the branches full of those flowers, but if they saw you holding one they'd run over and eat that instead.
