Where can I find some nice friendly girls?
Mu Beta Posted Feb 17, 2004
I have to say I disagree with the latter. If everyone went around telling people they didn't like them, then we'd never get any work done.

No not on the dislike - just yes I like if you do. Could work - but knowing human nature it wouldn't
Ged - outsiders - hmmm - nasty feeling that and I think is more common than people think.
Northern - well I am back - sorry for the coffee foam (I really should start sticking labels on these things *lmao*)

well i was refering to if you ask someone out with the telling people you don't like them not just in general (i'd never get anything done )
great idea in theory but i agree it would never work with human nature
Feeling like an outsider is definitely more common than you might think but most people don't wat to admit to it.

mark> they've been busy!
I reckon about 90% of people feel like outsiders quite a lot of the time! Milky and I were discussing the 'what would you wish for with 1 wish' question, and he came out with a damn good one - to feel comfortable in any social situation. That would be cool
Anyhoo, got a call from DG last night.. only 4 days since I saw him! asking if I wanted to go out to a show next Friday. Which, if that's the next time he's planning to go out, is still 2 weeks since the previous date , so I said he's welcome to come over to mine one night if he wants, and left it at that.
Downside though was that after a 10 minute conversation my shoulders were touching my ears from the effort of making conversation with him. He's alright once we're face-to-face and I've got a subject started, but on the phone... it's so disconcerting to speak and just have ...silence... on the other end.
Asked Milky for my negatives last night (cuz he'd mentioned my positives whilst pubbing on Sat), the only one he could think of (or was willing to say) was that I'm too self-deprecatory. So, dammit, I swept into work this morning with a big smile and 'you alright?' to the first person I saw, to be greeting with 'not really' but I'm perservering... shoulders back, chest out, sweeping everywhere.... I shall imagine Saturday Night Fever in my head
Confidence is damned attractive.

I have the groovy beat from Bittersweet Symphony running through my head as my confident strut song, was so glad when that came out so I could ditch SNF !
Yep, everyone feels 'different' most of the time, mainly because we are.
Queegle - some (most?) men are just no good on the phone. It has taken nearly 5 years to train J that he has to ask questions and sound interested, and he is still crap at it
I've only skimmed the b'log - WIRO, you talked to her yet? I know you were planning to.

Milky's ideal theme music is to have the Darth Vader tune going while he's walking onto a hospital ward to deal with a patient!
Most men are crap on the phone, I accept quite high levels of crapness, but this was just beyond... I know he's shy, but even grunts to acknowledge you've spoken would be good!
WIRO is still biding his time, but he's got a moment picked
Xan is fly-swatting all the virtual girls creeping up on him
Northern and Flame are still bemoaning their singledom - should read an article on being 'quirkyalone'

I obviously made an impression too.
That said, I've not been posting for a while, just lurking. I'm pleased to say that I *have* found a nice friendly girl. Unfortunately she lives in another country, so we don't see each other as often as I'd like (approx. same frequency as Queegle's dates!)

Good Ictoan, I thought I would have to mention that.
I also have a hard time making friends, and to be honest I don't really have any. I'm an eternal outsider. And as I am in a new country where I don't know anyone, it isn't easy. You don't feel like going out when you don't know anyone. And you won't get to know anyone when you don't go out.
WIRO: I think waiting till after the exam is a good idea. She will have way too much on her mind right now. And maybe you could invite her to some party to celebrate it is over afterwards.

On the subject of girls and exams, an anecdote from my past.
I delayed asking a girl out for a couple of weeks while I finished my A-levels. I then did ask her out, and she asked, at a later date, what had taken me so long. So I said "I wanted to wait until after I finished my exams so I had more time free to spend with you". She never let me forget that 'exams were more important' than her. Gah.
On the plus side, I have recently met a nice, friendly girl. She's from Wales. Maybe there are more over there?

That's good news Odo.
Although I wouldn't want to be in Cardiff when the England Rugby team bury the Welsh at Twickenham in a fortnight, extra women or no.

Mmmm, the anual rugby battle. That always used to cause major brawls at school. Ohhh, btw, I'm English so I'm more than happy for them to go and win.

When I had my final exams, I didn't spend as much time revising as I should have because I wanted to spend time with the nice, friendly girl I had. I did very badly in the exams, and was dumped a few days after that anyway.
