Where can I find some nice friendly girls?
Autumn Hughes Posted Jul 10, 2001
Autumn has another bad attack of foot in mouth.
Sorry Honey³, calling me racist is a bit like waving a red rag at a bull - been beaten up, spat on et al too many times.
I do agree with you about sexism.
I used to think it mattered but I've realised that the people whose opinion I care about aren't like that and who really gives a monkey's what the ignorant folk think?
Um, actually I was talking about "Indians" but I'm pretty certain the same holds true for Japan and Vietnam. Don't know owt about China or Korea. Guilty of cultural myopia I guess
Ben dear, if you look in Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Character Map you'll find almost any symbol you could ever possibly want (Tho the ³ I found in the 'System' font isn't half as nice as Honey's version)
(Hey Honey, have you ever heard the eponymous Bobby Goldsboro song?)
Ben, re domestic violence, for 'eastern' read 'Indian'. No - it wouldn't be countenanced. They would be ostracised and derided. The English, on the other hand, seem to consider it manly. Even the police won't help an abused woman. They tell her to go home because they can't do anything unless the man actually breaks one of her bones.
And women tell her she shouldn't disagree with anything her husband says - even if he claims black is white.
Even if a woman has her front door kicked down by a local bad'un and is chased through the streets and dragged back, screaming for help all the way, the neighbours turn up the volume of their TVs and the police advise her not to prosecute because, in the unlikely event that he's put away at all it will only be for six months or so and they won't be able to protect her when he gets out
Honey³ - your English is so good I mistook you for a native speaker. Sorry.
deackie, how can you ever call a man who is beating a woman unarmed?
If, for example, a man beats a woman and her children, with his bare fists and booted feet, for 15 months, culminating in causing a miscarriage by kicking her round the room (in the stomach) and then refuses to take her to the hospital, but goes out drinking while she miscarries, and when she gets out of hospital he accuses her of deliberately getting rid of the baby and beats her again - and she picks up his gun and shoots him while he's unconscious would you call that a vicious attack involving weapons, on an unarmed man?
Excuse me - have to go and hold up a sink while the lord and master dismantles it

Hey!
What's all this unpleasant stuff? I won't have it in my thread! Get it out of here!
Here we talk about nice friendly girls, not kicking women into miscarriages, thank you very much!
Start your own thread where you can talk about all the isms you want.

good point about the taliban corinth...

Corinth Posted Jul 10, 2001
Well of course it's a good point. Still, I'd rather not turn this into a seminar on comparative religio-politic. Nice friendly girls are much more interesting, and cuter too.
I wonder, has anyone else been helped by what has gone on here?

Hello Corinth (I've been away due to computer failure and am now distressed by rampant generalisations) how are you getting on?
Where can I find some nice friendly girls?
Corinth Posted Jul 10, 2001
Hello M!
I'm getting on quite fine. My situation seems to have inverted completely. Perhaps I should start a new thread called "Once I find a bunch of nice friendly girls, what do I do with them?"

I'm sorry Corry.
I've asked them to Linda the post.
Have cut and pasted the apology bits in order to repost them though.
(By the way, she couldn't bring herself to do it)

What? I don't think I understood that.

Autumn Hughes Posted Jul 10, 2001
You said you didn't want a norrible question like that in your thread so I pressed the Linda button in it and asked them to take it away (except that they don't seem to have done so yet ) but there were bits of it that I would like to leave (for Ben and Honey) so when they remove the post I'll repost the reasonable bits (if you don't mind) and I wanted you to know that the 25 year old girl I was talking about couldn't bring herself to do it.

Ok, I see. But they won't take it away. That button (called Linda is it?) was made to silence people like me, not you.
And I forgive you, my dear.

Thank you Corinth
(May I have a hug please)
But it says it's for the removal of objectionable materiel so why won't they?

Corinth Posted Jul 10, 2001
As jwf will tell you. The yikes button was created by the Politically Correct Police to silence anyone who doesn't follow their rules. The things you wrote, though I didn't like them in my thread, were still politically correct (don't violate the house rules), and therefore will not be removed.
But back to the subject at hand, this evening I will be in the arms of a lovely girl...

a girl called Ben Posted Jul 11, 2001
Wow - you guys have been at it while I've been gone. I have posted a thread entitled 'Which is more important - respect for the individual or respect for their culture' in Ask H2G2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F19585?thread=127028&post=1127221#p1127221 Hopefully this thread can now concentrate on Corinth (aged 40-80) and his nice girls (aged 16-12). May and December

Hi Johnny
Same questions as we asked Corinth. How old, and define nice?

Just a quick not to Autumn and then I'll leave everyone to their nice, friendly girls - I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't condoning domestic violence against women. I had a friend who was visciously attacked by her husband on numerous occassions (won't go into detail as I don't want to upset Corinth) and I was extremely angry that nothing was done by the police. I just wanted to point out that men are victims too only society seems to forget this.
That's all, thanks for letting me butt in, now I shall butt out again.
If I meet any nice, friendly girls I'll give them the URL of this thread
