I heard that they are now making a film of Good Omens. I think Terry Jones does it, Neil Gaiman was talking about it in a video that I found on youtube.

My bedtime reading currently is Shadow by KJ Parker. The first in the Scavenger trilogy. A man wakes up and has no memory of who he is or where he is. There also appears to be a war or battle going on and he doesn't know which side he's on. It's quite a fun romp and we have the other two so I'll be stuck in these for a bit.
I was bought Stephen Fry's latest autobiography for Christmas and he refers to his earlier one, Moab is my Washpot, quite a bit in it, so I thought I'd read that one first. Very good it is too, but then you would expect no less.
I've also recently bought a load of Jasper Fforde from a local charity shop. Looking forward to getting stuck in with those.
Might go back to George RR Martin in time for the new one.

I've recently read the Millenium Trilogy. Really rather good, so good in fact that I bought the 3rd one cos they didn't have it in the library.
Er, also read a few forgettable Harlan Coben novels, kinda one step above Dan Brown.
And currently reading The Anatomy of England, a history of English football through examining 10 specific matches. Quite good, but covers a lot of the same ground as Inverting the Pyramid, also by Jonathan Wilson.

Mythago Wood by Robert Holdstock. I read it about 25 years ago and at the time wondered why it was so highly regarded. The other day I spotted it lurking on a shelf and decided to give it another go. I'm about half way through, and it still isn't doing much for me. Readable enough, but nothing special.

I have had to give up on a book - Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I couldn't follow it at all. Husband is really enjoying it though.
My most recent reads were three Georgette Heyer regency novels, followed by an excellent book about Jane Austen's world. Now onto Radio: A Love Affair by Libby Purves.

Just finished Steven Pinker's 'The Blank Slate' (Number 42 for the year)
I found it very good although I was not surprised by much in it. I do very much recommend it, however.

Currently reading "Robot Visions", a collection of robot short stories by Isaac Asimov.
Also "Armadillos and Old Lace", by Kinky Friedman, "Close Range : Wyoming Stories" - short stories by Annie Proulx, and still on "Garou" by Leonie Swann as well. Plus whatever else I happen to pick up.

Microserfs, by Douglas Coupland.
It's great, I have to say. I wasn't expecting it to be so funny.

I've just finished rereading R. C. Lewontin's 1990 Massey Lecture, 'Biology as Ideology' . . .
My, the number of straw men he wove into that basket to hold his catch of red herrings!
I'm glad it was brief.

Anthony Burgess' Malayan Trilogy. As someone with experience of Malaysia (although rather more recent) a lot of this is very funny and very acutely observed. Malaysia has changed emormously but people and their attitudes change much slower.
If you do not know Malaysia I think it would still read well as a colonial romp.

Last night I finished reading Chaucer's Knight's Tale after flinging Kurtzweil's Singularity thing across the room.
Now I'm tuning back to 2666 and Quintus Curtis Rufus' Life of Alexander.
Among other things.

Oh, and, the night before I finished rereading Asimov's anthology of SF from the thirties, Before the Golden Age. And that should have been *re*reading Chaucer. Automatic spelling fixers!

Not specifically reading too much on it yet(apart from book synopsi (synopsises?), but my reading habits will be changing somewhat. I received a Kindle(e-reader)for my birthday. So I'm contemplating the(both free & gift card-aided)gradual compilation of an electronic shelf.
