It's Chasm City. I've already read Absolution Gap and Pushing Ice, which were both pretty good. Big Ideas *and* characters.

Chasm City is better than both.
His new book The Prefect is also outstanding. It's set about 80 years before the glitter belt gets it, and introduces a possible cause of the disaster.

It is a very good and very hard sci-fi novel about dissents fleeling a dystopain futer earth on a hijacked space ship and landing on an inhabitable moon called Coyote

Just finished the proof copy of "The Steel Remains" by Richard Morgan.
It's his first attempt at a Fantasy novel. It shows. It gets all a bit science-fictioney in the descriptions of how (No spoilers please)!
Job's a good 'un though. I suspect I'll be parting with cash for this one as well.

I finished In The Woods (not Into The Woods, as I called it before - that's the musical version! ) by Tana French.
It's an above-average detective story, set in Ireland. At the end, everything gets tied up neatly...except one major plot strand which is just left hanging! How annoying is that?
Started on Tim Winton's The Riders (also set in Ireland). Bit of a contrast.

The Broken God by David Zindell. Although I like sci-fi, big long epics like this aren't my normal thing, but I'm assured by its lender that its good. It picked up after the hero got to the multi-speciated city of Neverness.
I've also started on An Utterly Impartial History of Britain - or 2000 Years of Upper Class Idiots in Charge by John O'Farrell. I expected something like 1066 and All That, but it's actually quite a sensible description of British history with jokes thrown in. It does occassionally get a little preachy at times, but I recommend it.

I like that he's doing more with Vetinari now...
I've double backed, purchased and began reading Going Postal so I get the full arc of Moist Von Lipwig's travails.

How do you like "Making Money"? I just got it as a present yesterday and I am very eager to be done with the office work, go home and start reading!

Enjoyed it. I like hot PTerry is reforming Ankh Morpork with the new characters (Worde, and Lipwig, chief among them as agents of change) The arc of Mr Bent - I'll say no more - is interesting. Wasn't what I was expecting, will be interested to know what others thought.
Makes a good follow up to Going Postal as far as I can tell.
And the scene in the hospital is fantastic.

I enjoyed very much reading Going Postal. Moist, I thought, was rather cool in it and Lord Vetinari is one of my Discworld favourits! I am really looking forward to starting the Making Money!
Taxes next you say? Hm, that theme has a lot of potential!!!
