Reefgirl - if it is, then only accidentally. Fry onion, add gravy salt, add red wine, cook, then cool. At least I think that's how I made it.
None left I'm afraid though

I don't think it was, onion marmalade is onions, sugar and water cooked untill congealed

Lunch today, many many hours ago, was the fresh grannary bread I got yesterday, thickly sliced, and toasted with cottage cheese on it

I had a cheese sandwich as I didn't get to a lunchtime situation until about 4:30, and didn'twant to fill myself up and not want my dinner.

My dinner was more interesting than lunch, and in many ways more tasty, but there was probably a bit too much of it.

Thanks 2legs - you could have shared with us what the dinner was, especially as it seems you had some left over!
I too had nothing worth mentioning for lunch (cos it was nothing). But I am just about to go and eat what I should have had five hours ago:
Homemade vegetable soup with hunks of wholemeal bread and butter, followed by chocolate mousse. Now I'm dribbling on the keyboard!

Omelette.
The first one I have had in about 10 years, I wanted to see if I still disliked them. It was ok, but nothing special.

Try putting herbs, fresh ground pepper & salt in the eggs, drop of milk, whisk well.
Olive oil in saucepan, cook mixture till almost set then fill with pre-cooked onion, garlic and mushroom. Something really special.
Alternative fillings crispy bacon & cheddar cheese (get the temperature right and when the cheese melts and a little dribbles out it goes lattice like and crispy.

I was going to make some stilton & leek soup for lunch, but it's getting on a bit now, so I'll prolly just have a cheese sandwich.

A tuna sandwich from the dodgy sandwich shop across the road and a packet of crisps.
I am now waiting for the upset stomach to arrive

Half a baguette with some lovely creamy brie and spanish saucisson, lightly toasted.

beeswaxy Posted Jan 22, 2005
isn't saucisson French and hence what you actually had was probably chorizo?

Mu Beta Posted Jan 22, 2005
Nope. I'm definitely right. Our deli stocks a range of exotic Spanish pig products.
I'm don't think it was spelled the same - more like Sauchicon, or something. But it was definitely a salami with peppercorns, as opposed to a paprika-type affair.

ah that makes sense.
I on the other hand am off to the finest butcher in London, the Ginger Pig for freerange organic back bacon that has none of that unpleasant crap they inject into supermarket stuff.

A slice of ham and some brussel sprouts, and now I'm waiting for the inevitable to begin What else has that effect on everyone? Salsify and Jerusalem artichokes are my worst enemies. Sorry to turn the conversation in this direction, but different people are affected in different ways, aren't they? Let's just say I'm doing research work.

The tarka dahl I had in the curry house last night. It was windy in the Beeswaxy residence last night.

An inadvisably chosen baked bean and sausage pizza eaten at 1am in my student days. I was NOT popular in lectures the next morning!
