Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Mar 13, 2007
I tend not to want a fuss for any birthdays except the traditional 'landmarks' (18, 21, &c.) and decades. Of course, when I say I don't want a fuss... I still hope for awesome presents.

A close reading of my PS will reveal that I'm no longer in my 30s, PoH!
Yeah, colds, eh? What a bugger they are. So, I caught one just before my holiday...managed to shake it off on holiday, then caught another (foreign - so no antibodies) just in time to come back to the UK.

I caught a cold off hubby about 5 weeks ago and I'm still suffering. The cold developed into bronchitis, my nose is still a bit bunged and my ears feel like they're blocked, even though they're not. I've been using my Ventolin inhaler like there's no tomorrow, so the asthma nurse has put me on to Becotide in an attempt to beat the problem. Oh, and I seem to be having an MS relapse, and it's probably the MS that made the cold last so long.
None of this makes me feel old, just weak and unwell. I bought a cap at the weekend with "WRECK" embroidered across the front. It sums up the way I feel at the moment.

Cheerful Dragon - use ginger root for your bronchitis. Put it in a mug with a a couple of slices of lemon and pour hot water in. Let it stand for a couple of minutes and sip it slowly until it's all gone. Have that a couple of times a day. I used to get bronchitis a lot and found that very effective.

I agree, Cheerful. Hubby's had a cold for over a month, his asthma has got worse too. Two weeks ago he stumbled on the stairs and is walking with a stick at the moment, which is making him old (he's only 37). He's putting all this down to *his* MS.

Thank BoB I don't have MS, to those that do...
The cold has gone, but has left me with blocked ears as well.
Now, back when I were a lad (adopts Northern accent, dons flat cap and mysteriously procures a whippet out of thin air) you'd tootle yourself down to yon quack's office, and he'd whip out a hideous piece of equipment and wash your ears out with it. Afterwards, he'd get the syringe and clean out the wax...no, no, no, STOP THAT! You're being silly!
Anyway, enough of that. Honestly, the palaver you have to go through to get your ears syringed on the NHS these days is pathetic! Earliest they can do me, apparently, is next Thursday. How crap is that?
Anyway, until then, can you all please type extra loud so that I can hear you properly? Thanks.
