Pygmybugs -- I'm new, but I'll give it a whirl
Pygmybugs Started conversation Feb 2, 2004
My account is all of maybe* an hour old at time of this posting, but this sounds incredibly fun. I've got the computer and 2 out of 3 of the programs you mentioned. I can't even draw stick people on paper, but I spend entirely too much time creating digital art for my own amusement. It would be fun to do it for someone else's amusement for once.
I spent most of my time in college (as a journalism major) in the computer lab manipulating old photos and putting cellulite on the models in lingerie and swimwear ads. (evil giggle)
I'd love to pitch in and help.l

Hi Pygmybugs
Thanks for volunteering to be a Community Artist.
To join this volunteer scheme there is an art test. This is because the standard of Edited Entries on h2g2 is very high, and the Editors would like the illustrations to match this
Two random Edited Entries have been picked using the Infinite Improbability Drive. You are asked to do a picture for each of them. You can look in the <./>GuideML-PictureLibrary</.> for the kind of graphics used in the past, use the entry for inspiration, and use the internet for research, but make sure that you follow the specifications that you can find on the <./>CommunityArtists-What</.> page.
The Editors don't want to see photographic manipulations or montages.
You need to produce the main image and the front page circles for each title although it's possible that only the main ones will be used because these Entries have already had their day on the Front Page.
Once the graphics are done, let the Editors know by Posting to this thread. The details for sending them into h2g2 will then be given to you.
If your pictures meet the Editorial standards then not only will you become a Community Artist but your test pictures will be blobbed and added to the entries.
Your entries are:
A474374 A Chronology of Garlic
A767162 Magnetic Induction and its Relation to Magnetism
The deadline for these pictures is Monday 23 February.
Feel free to ask questions and good luck.
Amy
NB: The same rules of copyright apply to images as to text. If you are in any doubt as to what this means, please ask.

After a good deal of research and several failed attempts, I've concluded that I'm so* not of the caliber of your community artists. I appreciate all the encouragement and help, and hope you get some great people. I'm just not that good at 2-D art. I'll try to write enough good entries to keep the real artists at work, though!
Thanks again,
Pb

Aw, that's too bad, Pygmybugs. The Guide can always use more articles, though - have fun, and good luck!
Amy, I'm going to reassign these articles to Geoff Adams, rather than using the improbability drive to pick out some more.
