I think I would make a good artist as the library does not offer much choice by way of science. I will change all that by making science pictures and uploading them for the benefit of myself and more importantly science writers on h2g2.
Please can you recruit me.

Can we see some sample illustrations? The usual way would be for you to pick an EGE that doesn't have a picture yet and make one for it. Be warned though that the Eds are trying out a new format, so I can't tell you the exact details right now.

How would I create an image for a guide entry? Do I need to upload a picture or something?

Yes, you'll need to upload one of your own images somewhere for the current Community Artists (mostly myself, King Bomba, and Menthol Penguin these days) and the eds to see and discuss.

If you've not got your own website, somewhere like Fotki, Flickr, Photobucket, DeviantArt etc will work - just don't use any site like Facebook where we can't see them unless we log in, please.

Try the Infinite Improbability Drive to find EGEs that don't have pics, if you need inspiration. <./>RandomEditedEntry</.> Or illustrate one of the ones soon to hit the Front Page, which can be found at ComingUp

If there are any problems accessing them then you may ask me to upload them somewhere else.
Some of my pictures are mainly text based. Ignore those ones. I will soon be adding some more pictures to my account, I will notify when.

Thanks EnergeticRobb and a very warm welcome to h2g2! It may be my brower at the minute but we're having trouble viewing the latest files on the wikicommons page: it also says at the top of that page, 'There is currently a problem with the creation of thumbnails, and some may not appear at all. Please sit tight, do not remove the images from articles, and hopefully the technical wizards will get it fixed soon.'

Anyway, we'll re-check later on. Following on from Malabarista's comments, we need h2g2Artists to create good quality, original work - it has to be your own work! - and while we do all we can to get h2g2Artists' work on to h2g2 in the general spirit of encouraging people, the Editors however do have the final say!

Also, just to let you know that we're trialling a new promo picture size for Approved Entries: 300x375 px, 72 dpi with no border.
