What happens if Deep Thought got it wrong?
Maybe he/she/it had a bad hair day or something and all our constenation (if that word exists) is for nothing.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, rats and mice, I have made a stupendous discovery. Unshaken tomato ketchup flows out of the bottle at 0.28mph which amazingly is 1 150th of 42

the number of teacups an average person should drink every week to make
him/her:
healthy (very good for your metabolism),
wealthy (you feel very posh)
and wise (stimulates the brain waves).

42 glasses of beer makes you brave, loud, wise and usually someone else cleans the glasses.

Where as 42 gin and tonics makes you realise that you have to find a toilet sometime soon or there is going to be a large puddle under the table.
I WONDER IF THAT PUDDLE WOULD BE 42 CUBIC milliLITRES

(insert technical description) faster than the one you have just paid off. And as you contemplate buying your 43rd you realise that it will always be a large beige paper weight that ties up the phone line.et

Which reminds me. The programme Desert Island Discs made its debut on British radio in 1942. This was before I was born but sub-consiously I have great memories of the initial programme

Is this thing ever going to end? Face it, We're working on a problem which has no solution. Any "Ultimate Question" would be purely speculative, and would have no bering on reality. The computer was destroyed before the question was formulated. We have the Vogons to thank for this mess, and a very fine mess it is, I must say! Since there seems to be no resolution to this delima, I suggest we have a good cup of tea and consider the importance of cotton balls in asprin bottles. Seems a much more pressing bit of information, and certainly would take less time to load than this behemouth!(By the by, I actually thought 42 was the number of cups of tea you "Brits" drink in a day)

An average Brit might, but I am far from average, except my perchance for beer.
As for cotton balls, I think they put those in the bottles so that after you have taking your aspirin, you can stuff the cotton ball into a Gnu's left nostril thus preventing him from sneezing.
This could be the answer to all of Gnudoms problems. They do not call me Obscure for nothing.
