Our magic links are very limited, I have no idea why they work via the BBC websites (I [think] I can access most of the BBC websites, if I wanted to via a Digibox link) and apparently, a few other web sites/pages that I've never tried.

I only know of 3, that's just three, Digibox users who still access hootoo regular, and two of us have our own PCs, and rarely use our Digiboxes (due to obvious limitations) but it's still nice to have that access available.

On a good day (when Virgin Media is working fault free ), it takes me just 45 seconds to get to my Hootoo space, to have a quick read while the adverts are on during a programme I'm watching on TV.

What the beeb will not do is release the number of hits hootoo has.

They are important figures to us, and others who may take us under their wing.

What REASON have they given for not releasing the figures?

(I'm sure a lot of this is explained over at the Consortium but I simply can't get my head around all the discussions there along with other problems I have at present.

They are saying it is for legal reasons.

I wasn't going to respond to that, but after a and ciggy, I've changed my mind, I shouldn't have to defend myself, but here goes.

I first registered with hootoo in March 2002, via a digibox magic email link.

I wrote my first Edited Entry (Wade Whimsies A765119) using my Digibox access. I had no access to the Internet, no Copy & Paste, no spellchecker, and I had to do the Entry in two parts, due to Digibox limitations, and the Sub-ed joined them together. I recall Jimster was a regular in Peer Review at the time, and he was very helpful.

I then joined the Aces again, with Digibox limitations, no copy & Paste, each Welcome message was individually typed, I had a hand written list of A-numbers for helpful pages. (I was an (active) Ace for around 6 years)

I can't remember what year I got my first PC, but things were much easier then.

I have 30 Solo Entries in the Guide
I have 6 Collaborative Entries in the Guide (where I was the one doing the work)
I have 2 Flea Market Rescues in the Guide
I have 1 Update in the Guide

For a couple of years I did First Solo Entries (A10310941)for the aim of which was to encourage first time writers.

Along with Galaxy Babe and Wilma, I set up The Photographers Group (A15846438), and for some time ran it single-handed.

Oh, and I was also a Scout for a couple of years.

Plus loads of other stuff I can't be bothered to go into.

I have now retired from most of the volunteer activities, and actually find I enjoy hootoo more that way.

Hi I am one of the shift workers that can only access the bbc website whilst on the "shopfloor" at work. Its just gone 3am so please pardon my spelling and grammar. I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed visiting the site and howmuch I will miss it. Ivor

Ivor, that is what I meant with my comment Emmily seems to have misunderstood. ( , love - I really talked foot-in-mouth there).

I was thinking of all the hits on the site by friends who just click in to see what´s up and who´s there...I do that regularly, and I believe I´m not the only one. Active participation is one thing, but writing without being read is another. Hootoo without people who just enjoy would be a very small place.

We need both page views, and number of users who post.. I'm hoping we'll get both, but as I've said they can't release them at the moment.
