Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~

exactly, your countness, and as i said in post 502 (i think it was) i gave clues to finding MY personal address on MY computer in MY company

(no commercial aspects whatsoever, you wouldn't even be able to guess what company it is)

and if this had lead to somebody trying to spam me with trojan smiley - pony's or smiley - galaxy virusses nobody would be able to hold bbc responsible for anything even if they wanted to

but never mind that. 10 minutes later i posted the address somewhere else and it was snatched by the right person before the 's could erase it smiley - tongueout

in fact it's still there, i just checked smiley - rofl

(smiley - musicalnotespam, spam, spam,smiley - musicalnote spam, spam,......smiley - musicalnote)

No, I do get the other spam as well.

My BT package though gives me an excelletnt spambot that chucks it all in a bin that I empty once a week, after checking for the odd spambot mistake!

Strangely enough, my email addresses at w*rk got far more spam than my personal addresses. No matter what new technology you introduce, there will always be someone (or lots of someones) with a vested interest in corrupying it for their own ends. smiley - erm

There is a lot of very clever programming in writing the bots that trawl for email addresses. One wonders why the rectums writing them don´t do something that doesn´t get on your nerves.smiley - grr

If they succeed at getting on your nerves, that's a victory for them. There's a certain kind of mentality that sees life as a huge scoreboard. They score enough victory points, they win. Maybe the kids who play video games 24/7 are acting out that whole scoreboard approach as well, but the ones who are designing their *own* games are a step beyond that. What happens to hackers after they get caught? Sometimes they end up with a nice career of testing large institutions' security systems to spot the vulnerable spots. This is highly useful work, but it wouldn't be necessary if there weren't other hackers out there, looking for points of entry.

Some hackers like to play the dangerous games though.....

Like hacking the Pentagon..........

You get to go to a nice full-board Hotel in the US when you get caught!!
