I'm on a digibox and i got in so i dont think thats permanent, and if pc users are also having problems i'd say its more of a system problem.

Hi all
Just to let y'all know. Yep the DNA/single-sign-on mix is having some problems tonight. We've been here the last few hours trying to sort them out. Although it's SSO that looks broken this is unfortunately because of DNA, which apparently is being a bit greedy with the database connections, leaving nothing for SSO. Occasionally when you try and use SSO it will work... when it gets database access. But things are kinda busy now and DNA has swamped everything.
The good news is once your in your in. And you dont have to worry about migrating accounts for the moment because any names you have will be reserved until you migrate them.

Yes the system seems to be overwhelmed.
Time after time it says about; sorry, there is a technical problem.
And then after a few hours it suddenly works.
And then not,
and then again it does.
Indeed; all your login-info remains safe.
I am writing this for those who cannot log-in (anymore) and want to write, but cannot.
And to those who have more than one account.
Don't activate your second, etc. tonight, because it brings lot of trouble. You automatically inactivate the "remembering" option by starting with the second activation and you can't get in at all anymore. (My experience)
Do that another time. Then you will succeed.
P.S. I still got in after all, by answering for the sécond time the registration e-mail I received.

Two quick points...
I'm using Opera at the moment and it's ....
Venus... Stage 2 is just after the username change and password if i'm not mistaken... so i expect that there are some confusions with the username's number of letters and/or what characters are accepted etc... [and yep, technical problems at this end might _also_ be the cause...]
A wild guess of course until i can get to the digibox and try to re-register the h2g2/LDers space's account through it and see what happens...

Ewww... yucky. I had my page perfectly arranged to my browser so that when I scroll down, it goes to certain links perfectly... and now I have to redo it!
Different lay-out
Alfredo Posted Oct 13, 2003
The lay-out of my space has become different = "Most recent conversations" take much more space then they did before.
But nót at everybodies space.
Not at "Venus" space by example.
How come?
Different lay-out

That means, that YOU don't see - as a visitor - not any difference between my space (converstations) and b.e. Venus' ?
Am I right?
Comparable (opposite) with the "edit to friends button", that you can see at anybody's elses, but not your own.
(And then still I don't need all these differences about posts, answers and not answers, but that's something else)

rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Oct 13, 2003
Another oddity I've discovered is that even when I manage to log into my user space (a spotty proposition at best), when I try to access my preferences or edit my opening page, it acts as though I'm not logged in! Frankly, as much trouble as I've been having just getting in, I'm not about to risk getting booted by trying to log in AGAIN.
PLEASE let this be growing pains, not a permanent snafu!

Ottox Posted Oct 13, 2003
Alfredo, you're right. You only see the "X new posts" for your own account. It's a *very* practical feature when you've found out how it works!
warrior ranger, !!!
Ottox - who doesn't panic even though he' s not recognised every second moment - even while posting this!

Are you clicking on Preferences or Retrieve My Details? The Retrieve My Details requires you to enter your password just to make sure that it definately is you who is trying to view and change your details, the preferences button is now only needed to change your nickname and if neccessary your h2g2 skin.
