The new BBCi registration system, as announced last week, has now been launched, so the next time you login you will need to migrate your account to the new system.
When you try to access DNA following the upgrade you will have to login using the new system. You should use your existing login details - it will migrate your details, asking for some extra information, and you'll then be logged in with your existing DNA identity and U-number.
If you have any questions, or would like more information about the new registration system please do not post them here but read the Single Sign-On Registration page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/hub/A1325387.

Query: If people haven't signed in with SSO already, why would they be reading this thread?

Worked for me
A thought: when pulling this sort of stunt in the future would it be possible to redirect hits on the site to a page telling people what is going on (and when to try again etc.) The standard bbc not found page isn't exactly much help in these situations.
Nowt like 20/20 hindsight...

Obviously the downtime seemed long enough to be 48 hours, rather than just 4

Well yippee, I am no longer unknown. I like the petulant little thing at the top "I am NOT Terri and Yoda!"
Terri
(Yoda at present expressing severe disinterest in the whole proceedings.)

I had to lengthen my password.
And it took me 20 tries to log in.
And it thought I was "Flahaven"
And its ugly.
And there's no "login" page any more.
But anyway...
