Mr. Christopher, enjoying the Magicians Guild game where he is called Polonius Franc, Elder Healer and local merchant

I'm so excited, I shall not wear pants until the premier!

Is this where researchers are congregating to talk about the movie? I poked around The Post to see if anyone had started a group or club, but can't find anything.

Would it be appropriate to wear a robe and bring a smiley - towel to the movie, or would that be too much?

The best place for the movie is here: A2642384 The movie news page. Lots of links to interviews, pictures, and a place to chat about it. Subscribe to the page because it's the first place we put news.

I'm not subscribed there because I want the movie to be a suprise. I wonder if they will have marvin as an C3PO man-in-a-suit or some CGI creation.

CGI-style-of-fing, I think. There was a link to a Quicktime movie available for download posted on hootoo somewhere at some point, which showed him.

No, the movie showed early experiments of a small-man-in-a-suit. The Americans, ever painfully literal, translated "Brain the size of a planet" into "Head the size of a beachball". smiley - erm

What *really* P*ss*s me off is the fact that when the movie was announced, the only confirmed cast member was Steven Moore as the voice of Marvin, and now they've replaced him. Alan Rickman may be very talented, but no-one captures the essence of Marvin better than Steven - he released two singles, for God's sake! smiley - grr

Ah, long time since I've seen it, I don't have the movie on this computer.

I can't hear Alan Rickman as Marvin, I would have thought it'd be too smooth and oily. Have to wait and see.

It won't be as good without Tom Bombadil smiley - winkeye (<- stole [HPB]'s joke)

"The Americans, ever painfully literal, translated "Brain the size of a planet" into "Head the size of a beachball"."

I think you'll find that that decision was made by the British production crew. Director, Producer and Production Designer are all British.

"What *really* P*ss*s me off is the fact that when the movie was announced, the only confirmed cast member was Steven Moore as the voice of Marvin, and now they've replaced him."

Again, not true. Stephen Moore was *never* confirmed as Marvin, although he was listed on imdb, which means nothing for a movie in production, as all the information comes from the public, not the production.

Well, Jim, I generally assume that anything listed in IMDB as pre-production status is "official", in as much as they won't let a general user enter a new production, only someone connected with the production company. Forgive me for getting my hopes up, but I was really looking forward to hearing him again. smiley - blue

No, users can enter any old rubbish, unfortunately. It leads to all sorts of arguments and confusion. There was an extra writer credited on the movie for about eight months even though he was never associated with the movie in any way, and only referenced once in one online report on the movie.

It's disappointing that Stephen won't be doing the voice. I always assumed I'd be outraged if they chose not to use him, but I think Alan Rickman is an inspired choice.

Not sure I agree - only seen clips so far, but he does sound too oily to me - not depressed enough..

Oh, and Marvin's body is too perfect...

Marvin, the old marvin, is in the movie too. His cameo role has him standing in an endless Vogon bureaucracy line.
