...because that's what a hippo is for. The advert went something like "get a hippo for your tank". So I did but it didn't fit. I just have to hope I'm not wasting too much water anyway.

oh right. i wasn't aware of these connections hippos had with toilets
i heard a brick would do the job just as well...
or maybe i didn't. maybe i'm making that up. who knows?

No you are not making it up I have seen a brick used also...
...and I too have had a hippo but my cistern was too small. It comes of having a modern environmentally friendly bathroom
