Liar!
Well, maybe you're not, but you have had a barcode stuck to you. Wait, maybe that was me. That Canada Post signature collection barcode (there are two decorating various places in our house at the moment) that my roomate freaked out over.
Barcodes are fun and interesting and fantastic! There's a barcode store in our neighbourhood even!

Easy one for a web type - how do you put a link on an image without the link decoration on it?
e.g. change:

Hello,
I absent mindedly thought I had signed up before (when I first started a few weeks ago on h2g2), realising I had only subscribed to the page. Ignoring my ignorance, believe it or not I am a programmer, currently moving to Liverpool University, studying Computer Science. A few of you already know me (well DoctorMO does anyway, who I told I had signed up before, so please forgive me). So I would like to sign up properly.
I have studied QBASIC (at GCSE & A-Level, only learning language I know but its still a language), C, Java , SQL, HTML, perl (a little), Javascript, Assembly Language (MASM), and a couple of lesser languages such as HOPE and OBJ.
Thanks,
Terran (or Ste for short)

And I am in the somewhat unwelcome situation of being able to Add Access and VBA back onto my CV. Next thing you know they'll have me doing COBOL or somesuch.
So, and Visual COBOL people out there? I remember seeing it advertised years ago and laughing at the very concept....

I am a programmer, and I want to sign up.
I know QBasic, Visual Basic, HTML, and I'm just starting in C++, but I'm still at the "Hello World" level.
I'm going to learn Inform pretty soon if I get around to it. I'm learning new stuff all the time, and I'm a big-time Zork player.
I GOT THE BABEL FISH, but I never could get the atomic vector plotter out of the vogon case.

I did, but it was 10 years ago... Remind me of the obstacles...?

You type in the right word of the Vogon poem. I do it right, just like the walkthrough says, but the hold still explodes. I'm playing an emulated version, so it might have a bug.

You need to see the captain with the babel fish in your ear, and tell him you really like his poetry, this way he'll tell you the second verse of his poem. Though this may be painful, the code to the case (which you need to type on its keyboard), is in that second verse of the poem somewhere. I think there is a clue as to which word it is somewhere. But I can't remember off the top of my head. Someone else is going to have to take it from here. I just seem to have been wandering around "The heart of Gold" aimlessly for ages, and have no idea what to do with the spare improbability drive.
Hope this helps.
