Those 'firsts' in English French and Biology lead me to believe you would do well in a Parisian bordello or green grocery.
But what's "HE"?

Thanks...Green Grocer sound good but I think I'll stick to the idea of being a costume designer!
HE is Home Economics...cooking...sewing...didn't actually mean to take it! Took Graphic communications and hated it so swopped to the only avaliable course!
Did bloody well in it too! Got the Prize for my year! And didnt mean to take the course !

Can you tell me what every vitamin, mineral and nutrient does, comes from, is made of and what happens if you are defient in them?
No?
Didn't think so!
I can though!
Can you tell me what the dietary targets for 2005 are?
Can you tell me how to read a label off your clothes? Actually I doubt you even know how to work a washing machine!
Can you tell me all the different types of shops? types of payment? Types of trading standard?
Would you be able to choose a childs toy which has all the relevent safety details?
CAn you tell me all the different safety labels? Saftey companies?
Do you know out of a year of 30 people taking HE only about 12 got credit exam grades...and only about 4 or 5 got 1's!
Can you tell me anything?
Well this is just the tip of the iceberge in what I learnt in HE over 4th and 5th year! I know more about health and safety and food and fabrics and crap than you ever will! So say your suprised that I can pass a subject you know nothing about! HE is a HARD subject I had to learn booklet after booklet of information...even my most important info booklet was about 2cm thick (A4)! I've learn so much from this course! So don't tell me I dont deserve or havent worked or that it wasnt difficult! People think that HE is just standing around cooking all day! It's not!
GET THE PICTURE!
HE IS DIFFICULT!

That's right!
Nice one Em! You told 'im!
Most guys never realise how important home-ec really is. Managing a home is bigger and harder than running a small to mid-size business.
There is much to know about consumer information, product safety and value, hygiene, food preservation and prep as well as budgeting of your finances, time, materials, etc...
Living a bachelor lifestyle for long periods between
shorter periods of 'domestic bliss' I have learned the hard way, from experience. Trouble is, now I only seem to attract ladies who never took home-ec and are looking for a house-husband to look after them.
While I, like most men, am still wishing someone would do all the stuff my mom used to do for me. Stuff that most men never learn and just take for granted. Stuff that can be fun and rewarding, but gets to be a right bore if no one ever appreciates the effort.
BTW What sort of 'prize' did you get?

Well Done Em !!!!!
On the subject of HE and Women in general.... I have frequently come up against women who after bringing up a family and deciding to return to work, always say 'I've got no experience....qualifications etc'....they don't seem to think that 'Managing personnel'(getting hubby/kids up, dressed and fed), 'Maintaining deadlines'(Getting the kids to school ontime), 'Material Management' (making sure clothes are washed and ready for use), 'Health and Safety' (house clean, tidy and healthy)and 'Working within a budget'(making money stretch) are a requirement for modern business

God that was totally not the reaction I expected!
I thought I'd get told off for being horrible to UH!
I'm just so sick of people saying HE is a scive cause you just cook...when you only do that every second week...once a week is you're lucky!
(jfw it was a certificate thing I still havent got cause I wasn't at prize giving! Anyway it's just a bit of paper but it's the meaning of the thing)
Men (Sorry for stereotyping but it has to be done) think that just because you're a woman you should be in the home and that you can work but you have to do the house stuff as well! I mean how many peopl ein this world/country know what bacterias are, what they can do etc! I've even started doing silly things that I learnt in HE on a regular basis (Peeling mushrooms for 1! Although my gran peels grapes!)And yeah women don't consider being able to cook and manage a house as a valuable experience for working in todays society but it is! I mean come on what was the whole womens rights thing about and getting the vote and stuff if we're still considered lower class citizens!!
HE is important in todays socity in many different ways than being able to cook your hubby's dinner!

*Tells Em off for being nasty to UH, desperately trying to hide the fact that his anger is actually misdirected frustration at not having been taught all that important, helpful, usefull information in highschool.*

All those comments apart...I've yet to meet a woman that can iron my shirts and trousers to an acceptable standard, so when living with someone, I've always done my own ironing
In a lot of cases it is true that men look for a woman who will be prepared to do all the things their mom's did....but girl children are still taught by their 'liberated, Germaine Greer generation moms' that this is what's expected of them. As a point...how many lads where in your HE class Em ?
I'd argue the point about second class citizens from either side...it very much depends on the work environment.... I've seen young male apprentices embarassed by middle aged women to the point of quitting, I've experienced girls crying sexual harassment when they have recieved sexual comments from one person, yet enjoy them from another... on the other hand, to get any sort of promotion or advancement a woman must have got it 'because she has breasts' or she is sleeping with the boss, yet similar things are said when men get promoted....rarely will people concede that someone got promotion on ability.
Having had to fend for myself and been involved in relationships too, I find it's the person that's important, there is little a woman can do for me that I can't do for myself, with one obvious exception (though I've frequently been told to go off and try ). But I do appreciate it when someone takes the time out to cook a meal etc, because I am aware of what is involved, and of course expect the same appreciation when I do the same.
I see a relationship of any sort as a partnership...not master and servant....still if you like those sort of games.....
