Douglas Adams recently suggested 'twirdle-ewe' as a possible pronunciation of WWW. Maybe we can start a trend.

all the uwes implies as many as you can possibly type, which is a bit silly
I was wondering whether any webmaster has ever called a webserver uuuuuu

Apparently, WWW is often pronounced 'dub dub dub' because people can't be bothered to say 'double-u double-u double-u'.

Yep I confirm my ex-Silicon Valley colleague pronounces it "dub dub dub".

Apparently http:// is pronounced 'Happy-tap'
So the full version is (deep breath)
Happy-tab-Twirdle-U-Aych-too-gee-too-dot-com

we really aught to start a campaign to e-mail all tv and radio presenters complaining that they are pronouncing web addresses incorrectly, and give them a nonsense version - it'd be fun to see how many we could get to say "happy-tap twirdle... etc" on air!!

I reckon a decent alternative making for rapid speech is "wibble-u" - except if you're under the influence, when it can go a bit wrong....

I'm lazy, I never pronounce the "http://" or "www" part. Why bother? It's like ".com". I'd just say the address is Haitch-Two-Gee-Two. It only really makes sense to spell it out when the site in question is NOT "http://www.something-or-other.com", as in "why-hyphen-A-dot-cee-haitch" ("http://www.y-a.ch", my home page). And saying "haitch-tee-tee-pee-colon-slash-slash" is like giving someone your phone number, explicitly telling them they need to lift the receiver before they call you... God, I've already said more about it than it was worth. Might as well have spent the day going "double-you double-you double-you"...

yes, but when phones were first widely available you'd have probably have to have told someone who'd bought a phone just to be able to talk to you how to use it. I guess in a few years everyone will assume the http:// bit anyway, and most modern browsers automatically fill this in if you don't type it.

How about upside down MMM as in inverted mmm//justathought.com though it might scare the sheep in New Zealand. They are still recovering from all the fat, loud American tourists wearing the wardrobes from hell who visited in summer.

As a slim American tourist I resent that remark, plus being from Montana sheep like me.
On the topic, I live in Texas now and here it's common to just say the "daht calm" part and dispense with multisysllabic words.
