A Conversation for The Manifesto for the Campaign to rename Thursday, "Thing"
The Thingite Embassy

This is for all Thingites interested in spreading the word of Thing to other places, and for us to plot our eventual domination of the world! Or something similar.
As Ambassador Of All Things Thing To The Ignorant Heathens, I hereby do proclaim this embassy open!
(And I am well aware that this is going to become an unofficial Thingite café, as my other duties include sandwich making and cups of tea. Cutlery is not provided, as your ought to do.)

May I have some , please?
I´ve intensified my spork smiley campaign and also startded to lobby for dragon and towel smileys... at C2C...
Maybe it´s time to start a Thingite embassy there as well?

Where are the boards on Care2? And yeah, we should definitely have an embassy. Tell me where to go, and I'll go there - I signed up.

We make some progress!
Is there a clear link back to the Manifesto, so that people who join over there can reach the hub easily?
And what do you think of an attempt to spread the word to GameFAQs.com? It's more risky, however, as the inhabitants can get... how to put this... trollish - and they may not give us the required results.

OK. For those Thingites with LiveJournals, I've set up a community: http://www.livejournal.com/~thingites. It's just in need of members, now.
I wouldn't mind knowing whether using the graphics from the webpage is permitted on external Thingite-related pages, though.

I tried to post and it said I wasn't a member.
There are number of hootooers already using Live Journal:

As for graphics. Not sure best check with the Powers that Be - Shea drew the original for us, that was then 'blobbed' (the process of making it a h2g2 graphic) and uploaded to their servers.
I'm not sure how happy TPTB would feel about having their blobs paraded about the internet willy nilly, my guess is not very much, but maybe if you ask Shea nicely she'll give you the original file.
My focus will always remain the manifesto here on h2g2, but I have no problem with people setting up outposts of Thingdom in the WWW. The more people we convert to our noble standard the better I say!

Yepp, you have to be a member to be able to post at the new Embassy. I guess most communities have the same rules. I mean, you can´t post here without being a member.
Didn´t understand your message about pics. Do you mean that someone will bang my head coz I posted the miceblob as Embassy logo?

Good plan, this Embassy.

About the mice. Possibly yes. There might be some copyright issues - best to check with the Italics to be sure. The Thingite logo however was deigned by Shea, despite being an official h2g2 graphic, so she ought to have retained the original file she screated. I feel sure if you ask her nicely she might let you have that if the Towers veto using The Mice.
Frankly I'd change the membership thing, its a bit unfriendly if you can't speak to anyone without being forced to sign up first.
I don't mind who wanders by my journal. Come one, come all, I say.

It can be previewed here http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=187&pst=111589

The Thingite Embassy: LiveJournal Community now even opener
Researcher 208776 Posted Mar 21, 2005
The LJ community has been thrown open to the masses. Anybody can post, or reply to entries. Is that more OK?
And Clive, what's your LJ, then? (To me, the above posts read like you've got one, I may be wrong.)
Key: Complain about this post
