Look, if you called Thursday thing, what would you call things that were previously called things? How would dads ask where things are? Think of poor old thing on the Addams family, what would you call him? Can you imagine two days of the week in one family? And imagine explaining to friends that you were born on thing! It sounds like a distant planet! Anyway, Robespierre tried to change the names of the months and look what happended to him! Actually, what did happen to him?

OH YES WE CAN!!!
I don't believe renaming on of the days "Thing" presents any greater linguistical difficulty than some of the other odd corners the language has backed itself into.
There, They're and Their springs readily to mind.
Bsides WE Capitalise Thing when it refers to the day, and call most things things as and when duely apporpriate. As in most cases it will be clear from the context.
The Addams family line is a bad argument as we are campaigning re-naming Wednesday as well. (*gargles Holy Water to rid his mouth of the taste*)
Robespierre, didn't have my publicist or my lawyer or Shea come to that.
Clive.
Ottox for diligantly fighting his corner when it has been clear to everyone else that resistance is futile.
Grimtyke, you can join us too you know. It's not too late.

BTW Clive, I know we had a conversation about granting Ottox an honorary title in the Thingite Clan but I don't think we ever got around to granting it. It was going to be "Most High and Honorable Opponent to the Thingite Cause" or some such. I think we should decide on the final title and officially offer it to Ottox as soon as possible.

Of course I can't accept a title! But as the s you are, you could just throw it upon me!
(Would be a great birthday ! )

Clive, what do you think about putting Ottox's Thingite title into a spring-loaded box? That way when he open's it the title jumps out and permanently attaches itself to Ottox; he won't have a chance to refuse it!
And even better, we could have Shea deliver it to him! He won't suspect a thing! (no pun intended)
