Glycerine is in tears too but only the ones you see in the movies. In the early days of film making the lead actress would normally have to cry at some point. She would dab her eyes with a hanky and at the same time apply glycerine drops from a small dropper into her eyes (tricky at the best of times, as and contact lens wearer will tell you) The next time she blinked, fresh glycerine tears would roll down her cheeks.
