what is the meaning of life?
N1NJ4. Posted May 19, 2003
Not really a tense change, he should have said stands instead of stand. But now that I think about it, it is really stupid to be analilizing someones post.
It seems even dumber when I realize that my name is N1NJ4, a name based on the worst grammar possible.

sorry - you are absolutely right - it should have read 'stands up straigher'. Hanging head in shame for not catching that - was too busy laughing at nanchalantly, or whatever it was. Can't be arsed to look back now - funny typo anyhow. And even funnier if it wasn't a typo.
pedantically yours,

apology accepted, but the real question is, what did that post actually mean?
Not the meaning of life
N1NJ4. Posted May 19, 2003
I just wanted to change the subject, it has been about 50 posts since this last happened and we have been discussing almost everything but the meaning of life.
DOWN WITH EMOTICONS AND HYPOCRITS
but really, I don't like emoticons.

azahar Posted May 19, 2003
yeah okay, so what's the meaning of life then?
you don't like emotions? you don't like feeling alive?
weirdo!

Instead of why not just tell someone you are unhappy?
There is much more room for creativity and less room for the idiots who enjoy typing things like lololololol or hahahahahahah, the list goes on but you get the idea.
Not the meaning of life
N1NJ4. Posted May 19, 2003
And I didn't mean to complain that we were not discussing the meaning of life because it seems to be a waste of time, for as long as I have been here people have just been saying stuff. When we left the topic we actually introduce some real discussion.
Not the meaning of life
azahar Posted May 19, 2003
I actually don't think the topic has been left at all.
We are here talking - is that not part of the meaning of life?
Me? I don't have to tell people when I'm unhappy - it seems I let this be known in many very unsubtle ways
Anyhow, nothing is a waste of time as long as you are enjoying doing it. Well, okay - almost nothing.
Life = experience
Who's all experiencing life out there? Yes, I'm talking to you!
If you were truly doing this I don't think you'd be so concerned about finding a meaning for what you were doing. Ya know?

Nice, I like the whole experience thing. Makes sense, but what is the experience for, really all we do is please ourselvs, there is no greater good.
And if emoticons don't explain emotions, such as unhappiness, what do they really do.
(sorry about the w00t! (just habit(is the parenthesis inside of the parenthesis legal?)))
Not the meaning of life
azahar Posted May 20, 2003
I think that for parenthesis inside of parenthesis you have to use these [ ] - I *think* for the inside ones.
Anyhow, had posted this quote when I first joined this thread - perhaps you didn't see it so I'll post it again as I think it's quite succinct and lovely.
(the rest of you can just move on to the the next posting )
'People say that what we're all seeking is a meaning for life. I don't think that's what we're really seeking. I think that what we're seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.' (Joseph Campbell)

the quote is a bit redundant, it pretty much says that life=life, sort of like saying 3=3 when you are solving for x
Not the meaning of life
azahar Posted May 20, 2003
hi H1NJ4,
I don't think the quote is redundant. It's saying life=the experience of being truly alive. Not just being alive. I mean, a mushroom is alive, but what is it experiencing other than just the state of being alive? In other words, life=experience, as I had posted before.
Anyhow, it turns out that the meaning of life for many people is - FOOTBALL! The UEFA Cup final is being played here tomorrow and I've just spent the last half hour trying to jostle my way home through crowds of fat, beer-swigging, badly dressed, singing football fans who have descended on this fair city in the past 48 hours. Not the most pleasant of experiences I must say.
Why do they all have to take their shirts off and expose their huge white bellies to the public? Most unsightly.

I see the fun in playing the game, but watching it being played by people who are getting paid so much that the celebrity status makes the game meaningless in comparison? WHY? Oh, well, different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I am not really qualified to talk about this, being American (sorry). But it is probably less about actaully watching the game than getting smashed and having a great time with friends.

Read the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. In my opinion it is the bestbook ever written.
