Hi. I play the piano, not seriously, mainly classical and romantic - e.g., Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. I can sing, I think, but for some reason the audience normally laughs when I try.
Favourite composers: Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven. I was thinking of writing something about Haydn - he doesn't feature in the entries. (Heroic article in praise of Haydn now on the "to do" list.)
What would I like from the Guild? I'm completely new, and really just exploring at the moment, so don't know yet!

hello there, andrew. welcome to the guild! you can get your badge at A434648.
an article about haydn would be great - and it would would have a home at the musicians' guild main page as well, alongside other music-related articles.
the 'what you want from the guild' bit is just a formality, really. a lot of us just hang around here - it's a really good place to meet other musicians or music lovers - but if you have a music project that you'd like to work on with others or something, you can always post it at the main page as well. stick around, it's a pretty good place to be.

Greetings,
As you may guess I sing, Alto in fact, though I'm known to sing somewhere between a Bass 1 and Sop 2 depending on my mood and the music in question.
I've also been known to pick up a clarinet in my time, and even more infrequently a piano (well not so much pick up, but you get the gist).
I listen to a broad range of types of music, though I generally only perform classical choral music in large choirs and small ensembles.
I'd like to be part of the Music Guild as my experiences if the music world have always involved community spirit, and this seems like another good musical community to join!

Hi Brad the Alto,
Not too hot on singing. Did my bit at school, and was a member of the Thanet Operatic soc. Only Tenor, and one of few who could read music. Didn't stay long. Enjoy your stay, and drop in sometime.

Thanks for the nice welcome folks - I've now proudly badged my page.
Pianos aren't so bad once you've mastered picking up the organ, but that could just be here-say...

Many thanks for the badge and the welcome! There is now a Haydn article on "my space", although it's a bit biased... well, he is a *great* composer after all!

1. I play piano and violin and would like to take up the electric bass guitar. I passed Guildhall Grade 5 piano with merit and I am taking Grade 5 violin next term
2. My favourite composer is Bartok because his music is quirky and I like that. My favourite band is, of course, Atari Teenage Riot. I also like Space and Suede. These two bands have made me enthusiastic about the electric guitar and both of them have very talented players.
3. There isn't really anything in particular I want from the Musicisan's Guild

Brad The Alto, are you a male alto or a female alto? I'm guessing the former, but you can't make any assumptions on h2g2. If so, what's the difference between male alto and counter tenor?

*snail nods head nervously*
I play acoustic/electric guitar pretty well, and have a little experience playing drums. I mostly write silly songs to have a laugh with friends, but would like to sit down and write something serious.
Don’t go anywhere without my Pixies CD’s, found a friend in The Flaming Lips, and also big fan of Portishead/Massive Attack.
All I want from the musicians guild is to feel like *sniff* … I belong
Oh and some tips on Lyrics would be appreciated.

I play clarinet, tenor saxophone, recorders, marimba and a bit of guitar. (although not all at once! ) Oh yah and I sing a bit too.
Favourite composers...well I'm a bit biased towards Carl Maria von Weber!!(hence my name!) But I love music in general so Mozart, Vivaldi etc. Also like Abba, the Beatles, BeeGees(if that's not sacriligious to say! ), Glen Miller and generally Big Band. Jazz too but now I'm waffling!
I'd really like to hang around with the music crowd, chat a bit about music (among other things!) and a shiny badge wouldn't hurt either!
