I also love Mexican food. Having traveled to and sampled the cuisine in many different regions in Mexico, I must say that I prefer dishes from both northern Mexico and the Yucatan to those in the central part of the country. But there is enormous variety. It isn't just tacos and burritos. They do fabulous fish dishes, for example.
I am most happy with the flavors of Mexican food from the American Southwest. I could live on it and not feel deprived.

Hello. I'm back. I'm also trying to plan a cake. I've got a cake tin which has a steam engine and 8 trucks or carriages, each about the size of a generous slice. I'll do that in vanilla sponge. I'll also do a chocolate sponge flat square cake, which I shall cut in half to make "ground", but of what shall I make the sleepers and rails? Flakes are too big, as are kit kats and chocolate fingers, and we don't like liquorice so that's not an option for rails.

Would chocolate matchsticks work for sleepers/rails AEndr?

It might, though I personally dislike marzipan, that's no reason to deprive the rest of them.

Not vastly keen on marzipan either. It's a bit Too Much. When I was a child, we were only allowed to eat it with a piece of bread. Ditto chocolate. I thought this was an Italian Thing, but I think it's a 'My Step-Dad Was A Bit Odd' thing.

Hot water bottles mini, and an electric blanket. Not sure how easy blankets are to come buy on short notice but hot water bottles should be eaiser. Or just make them yourself by filling a PET bottle with hot (not boiling) water and wrap it into a towel. Or several. Oh wait, there's an edited collaborative entry somewhere...

Chocolate is good with about anything, but I wouldn't think to pair it with plain bread.
Tonight is going to be a real pain. Emergency board meeting to take care of soemthing that should be simple but has turned into a hassle thanks to one particular trustee who keeps bringing in things that have no bearing on what we're doing. No matter how many times we explain that what's she's talking about doesn't apply, she just goes on and on. I've had 3 phone calls from her today and a visit from her with an attorney friend who finally looked at her and told her that she needed to just shut up about it and that she was driving everyone crazy. I loved it.
I definitely need chocolate. And a kitten.

That doesn't sound fun Hyp
For all my preparing tonight's meal last night I'm now cooking it by candle and lamplight. Not because of any general power failure, but a failure of the electric lamp tube in the kitchen. A little fun thing once in a while, not fun if it happens repeatedly or for a long period.

Thanks everyone. Beer or something else alcoholic (probably a G&T) will likely be consumed as soon as I get home. And I have Minerva and Bart to cuddle. No chocolate, though. I'd better stop and buy some on the way. Sometimes you need dogs to cuddle and sometimes you need cats. Tonight is definitely a kitty situation.
The worst part of my job is that they won't let me kill trustees. I'm not even allowed to cripple them.
Phil, hope you can see well enough to get your dinner cooked. Sounds rather fun, actually.
