Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

We talk about food at least twice in every conversation. Speaking of which, I am going to let this one run to 3000 posts or thereabouts.

Moderation is a thankless task: part of it involves having to manually pass posts which contain a word that the automatic "filther" has spotted, after checking context and all (which they are a whole lot better at than the previous lot).

I recently looked in at the moderator 'control room' (not as a moderator, which I'm not, but as CE) in time to see one of the moderators text, "No wonder I'm so tired. Today I've had 3 drugs, an orgy and a referenudum and it's not even six o clock."

For a moment there, I was deeply taken aback. smiley - evilgrin

*referendum

But there may have been nudity at the referendum, for all we know.

Hehe, makes it seem most tempting to become a Mod

Can the expression 'ladling in' be used to describe someone armed with a spoon hungrily attacking a bowl of soup? Or is there a better expression?

Yes, I'm sure the moderators are deeply aware of the "Scunthorpe Problem." smiley - evilgrinsmiley - winkeye

Oh yeah, I've volunteered for doing some data-entry work at the local soup kitchen, and the person in charge of the soup kitchen is waiting to hear from the person in charge of the data entry, and I'm waiting to hear from either of them. smiley - silly

... Hmm, what's up with the web-icon there? It changed from the H2G2 logo to some sort of empty box.

Yar, re the favicon -- known bug. Possibly browser-related, possibly not, under observation. In firefox I see it in my toolbasr, but not in my bookmarks and sometimes, but not always in the url field. I see the empty box, too. I suspect we're watching bug-fixing in action.

Good grief, it's only the 9th, and my mind is already feeling as if it's about to explode from NaJoPoMo - and that's only from my own attempts, mind you! smiley - headhurts *curses herself doublefold*

So I'm trying to come up with stuff to write a few days head - and discovered I was painting myself into a corner of cheesiness and exaggerated symbolism.

So I hastily tried to paint myself out of it but have ended up in a corner of overly dramatic.

And I've also disovered I have neither map nor compass for this little story of mine.

I find that stories usually have a life of their own and often find ways to go that I hadn't even thought of before. It's part of the fun of writing! smiley - silly

Stories go where they damn well please, I find. Any attempt to corral them into order ends up making all the characters into caricatures and the plot goes flatter than wet cardboard.

Am watching Frozen Planet (Scrumph taped it for me, as I was on a late shift). I'd happily listen to David Attenborough narrating the Story of the Freshly Painted Wall, Drying All Afternoon. But Frozen Planet would be completely and utterly amazing and fantastic even without him. With him, it's glorious. Such amazing cinematography. Such beautiful landscapes. And, oh my Bob, the CUTENESS of the wolf-cubs and bear-cubs and seal-pups and penguin chicks, all EATING each other just as soon as you snuggle down and go Awwwwwww.

That (Frozen Planet) is one that I'm going to have to see. I agree on Mr Attenborough's voice, after all. He could make A Race Between Two Blades of Grass spell-binding. smiley - bigeyes

Here's a thing. I got a new perfume today. I think it smells wonderful, and bury my nose in my wrist to inhale with delight every few minutes. Scrumph thinks it smells 'heady' and doesn't care for it.

1) Since when is 'heady' a bad thing in a perfume? And
2) How often is it mannerly to wear a perfume that you love and your spouse does NOT love? Because I want to wear this every day until the end of time or at least until the end of the bottle.
