I think they've decided that garlic just tastes good - it has no intrinsic nutritional benefit. Won't stop me from eating it in large quantities, though.
I've taken to roasting heads of garlic in the toaster oven, then using the cloves in various recipes. I threw a couple in the last pumpkin gratin I made.... yum!
> At one time, infact last time, a GP increased antidepressant perhaps not realising that he was increasing a medication to stop shakes/tremors that might well be causing them.
I hear that's a common problem with Sertraline - the dosage is often raised because the doctor mistakes the side effects as anxiety. Well, you're off it now - let's hope that particular chemical gets out of your system soon!
> My grandmother always felt macaroni cheese was a bit mere, and so she used to soft boil eggs, peel them, and add them to macaroni cheese; she'd also lay streaky bacon accross the top with breadcrumbs, cheese and tomatoes.
Oh, my, goddess.... That sounds delicious. But can you really call it mac and cheese?
Today Rachel Ray made pimento mac and cheese - basically the recipe from Martha Stewart, with jarred pimentos added to it. Sounds all right, but I don't like pimento cheese! So I'm wondering if you could make mac and cheese with burgundy, or port...

If a recipe calls for two or three cloves of garlic, I always toss a whole head of garlic in--that's the kind of cook I am.

I just made lunch. Boiled some bratwurst in beer, then I seared them off in a cast iron skillet. Took the brats out and added a diced onion, which I cooked to caramelized gold. Then I added a head of shredded cabbage. Once this started to sweat down I added some capers and spicy Filipino vinegar and some salt. After these cooked down I threw the sausages back in the cabbage.
It turned out great. Too bad I didn't get to have much of it. Damned relatives showing up ate it all.

Hey Marv, you ever look any further into becoming a chef?

I was wondering that myself.

GL, no. I don't think it's a cost/time effective for me. I also don't want to learn to hate to cooking, which is something that I think that I would do if I did it professionally.

A whole HEAD of garlic?
Didn't they call garlic the Russian penicillin at one time? I've heard that it does have some medicinal properties when mixed with other ingredients. The fictional detective Aurelio Zen had a cold cure that involved slices of garlic and white truffle.

Strangely, I hope you feel better soon.
Macaroni and cheese...Mmm...I like it now, but went didn't like it for years due to only ever having eaten the school dinners yucky version. I don't think I've ever made it. I should probably do something about that.
The ducks are very cool!
probably accurately portrays my reaction to the bags!

I need to access an article in the Lancet from 1996, I am a member of 3 libraries with online access to the Lancet. Why has it taken me 1.5 hours to get hold of the said article.

Er - is Mac and cheese that difficult, it takes about 10 minutes to make a cheese sauce? and I'm lazy...

It'll be something to do with L-Space, Z.
I spent most of the day designing the World's Most Ugly Mousemat. It is essentially a one page user guide to SharePoint complete with screenshots. Not pretty but I do hope it's functional. A quick bit of internal market research gave it 3s and 4s out of 5 which is good enough for government work.
Those bags would only be fun if no-one realised what they were. I do like the idea of giving them as gifts to prudes and gynecologists and people like that.
Busy evening baking for the team's Christmas Bake-off (a competition suggested by a machiavellian and greedy male). I've also had to produce a baby photo. I'll add it to my picassaweb.
