True enough, Marv (about tires vs. brakes), but the point was the same.
Driving in snow, in mud, in sand...all of them are easy to do IF you know what you're doing. With the exception of once, I've never been the cause of a winter accident (and in all fairness, that once was the first winter I had a driver's license, and the police blamed it on the person behind me tailgating me and forcing a too-quick turn). I find it somewhat odd that people don't know to slow down in wet conditions, use lower gears, and leave room between cars.

25° today... We actually had to put a space heater in the dog room - poor little guy is going stir crazy! We let him out every once in a while, but it doesn't take long for him to get tired of the weather.
I like to cook when it's this cold outside. Pumpkin bread, roasts, rolls... great for keeping the house warm, but not so good for the waistline!
Around here, when it freezes, we get the so-called 'black ice.' Basically it's invisible ice, so you don't know it's there until your car starts skidding. Everybody drives like a maniac, rain or shine, and there's really no extra room for stopping, because somebody else moves into that spot.

It hailed during our snow storm.

black ice is no fun. There's some nasty spots around Flagstaff that are pretty much black ice magnets (mostly in the canyon down to Sedona).

Come on up! I've been trying to think of what comfort food to make next... I've already done beef stew, pozole, chicken soup, and a beef roast. R just made chili a couple of weeks ago, and we've had homemade spaghetti sauce just last week. May be time for more chili!

I'm planning mac & cheese for next week, I think. Chili does always go down well though - especially when it's chilly. Maybe I'll combine the two for chili mac. Hmmm...

Chilli and cheese is great comfort food, I tend to put in on top of a jacket potato.

I'll offer up my quick and easy chicken soup/stew thing: 2 chicken breasts, cut up, 1/2 bag frozen spinach, a can of chicken broth, garlic, pepper, and italian seasoning. Throw in crockpot and go for a few hours. Good with shredded monterey jack on top, too.

I had macaroni cheese tonight, speaking of comfort food. I taught S to make white cheese sauce. The boy done good.

Lemon and chicken is nice . I have had some pretty tasty chinese takeaway's that contained a chicken 'n' lemon combo .
The IT department at work appear to have altered the settings on my browser so that it no longer can use java script .
Not a big deal but it does mean no smiley's unless I click on 'full smiley index' . The weather page only half works too .

Last time I made chicken soup, I boiled down a whole chicken, bones and all. Extracted the meat before it got too overcooked, then boiled the bones until the stock was a yellowish-white. I basically pureed the celery, onions and carrots, so the soup was a lovely orange color with elbow macaroni and chicken. MMMMmmm... That was some good soup!
I like the puree method for sneaking in veggies, but I prefer a little bit of color to the soup - maybe next time I'll throw in some rough chopped veggies as well as the pureed, so there'll be something to look at besides chicken.

I keep trying to make homemade mac and cheese, but I end up with dry congealed noodles and not enough sauce. Baked potatoes sound GOOD!
