I think a cardy and a pony tail could suffice. Essential accoutrements to support the look.
There's something quimtesentially English about a tidy queue. How can one queue in a satisfactory manner unless the queue is tidy; demonstrating all the techniques taken in with your mothere's milk e.g. tutting if the person in front doesn't move forward quickly enough, maintaining just the right distance, stubbornly refusing to budge if the queuer behind tries to crowd you and most definitely not starting a conversation, oh no we never do that,

Morning all.

Unless you're in the middle of Glasgow - and then it's a good opportunity to put the world to rights and find out the life history of the person standing beside you in the queue.
I once heard Weegies being described as aggressively friendly.
The east coast is a tad different; you won't be addressed directly unless your family's been there for at least three generations.
Speaking of families ... that's a difficult and infuriating situation, Magwitch

Aye definitely a West Coast Scotland thing. Our best Scots friend was born in Ayr. If we go anywhere strange, anywhere in the World within 15 minutes she has latched onto a local with a sob story, is on best mates terms with the owner of whatever hostelry we find ourselves in and has located the best restaurant and bakers within a fifty mile radius. All before she has finished her first pint.

And quite probably has met someone who knows someone from home or is related to someone she knows.
This is Mr T's speciality. In the deepest Dordogne one year he met someone he'd been in the cubs with and hadn't seen for thirty years.

I'm currently rearranging my living room to make it more writing-conducive. Anything to get this silly book out of my way so I can change the letters after my name.
But now I can't decide what to do with the futon. It's a titch too long for one place, a tad too wide for another...dangit all!

Dang, Mags.
Marv, how's your mom feeling?
Teuchter, I trust Mr. T made is safely back to China. With his new shoes.
for Mr. D. Being sick on a vacation really sucks. I hope it is over quickly so you can enjoy the rest of your week.
As you will have surmised, I survived last night's kiddy invasion. The kids had a better time than I did. And they enjoyed their snacks.

Teuch - I doubt I'd recognise someone I was in cubs with and hadn't seen for years. When people come up to me who used to know me I tend to draw a blank even after they've explained who they are.

Yes, Hyp - Mr T made it safely back to Beijing, with his new shoes, and will be heading back in this direction next Monday, all being well.
Sol! How's the wee chap doing? And the big chap - and yourself?

FG, nope. The living room is about the size of your dining room...and about as long and narrow. It works under one wall, but sticks out about 3 inches into the kitchen doorway. Ah well. It's only for another year or so...

Hyp, my mom seems to be healing up. Still a long way to go though.
