I found both my tarot books, one for the Mythic and one for the Rider-Waite deck, so now I can relate to some of the other decks that are in use here.
Amy, did you say you're getting the three of swords more than somewhat?

Yes, Lil. Spookily, whenever (and however) I select a card from the pack it is more than likely to be the Three of Swords. If it's not, it'll be the Princess of Cups.

I would interpret that as a movement out of sorrow into a new way of relating to oneself and to the world. That is, it's not just the two cards but what they stand for together.

*still struggling to get through the thesis on tarot written by an ethnologist that she mentioned earlier somewhere*
God, I had forgotten how academical you can get at times - this thesis is no easy reading!
And he doesn't even manage to get his footnotes and sources right - he is referring to (more than once) to a site called 'Mytographica' - but, of course, it really should have been 'Mythographica'. I tried finding the site, but the URL seems to have changed a bit since.
These are the two (identical) results I came up with:
http://www.mythographica.fsnet.co.uk/
http://www.mythographica.com/
Probably referred to because they have some pages with history of the Rider Waite deck

I'd be more inclined to the 3 of swords and the princess of cups to mean you are being a little too sensitive about something..letting an emotion blow out of proportion as it were. Thays just off the top of my head though. I try to go more on how the cards 'feel' than the book interpretation .
Hi btw..

Hi Seraphina, welcome in. Would you like some tea?
I just did a reading yesterday for a neighbor who is the wife of an episcopal priest, something she never intended to be, but he had the calling after they were married. First we discussed the stories behind the suits and trumps in the Mythic Tarot (she has a masters in psychology which made the deck very accessible to her) and then did a celtic layout. It stimulated a lot of discussion and she declared afterward that it helped her a great deal. It was a barter reading; in exchange I get sessions of reiki.

Amazon sent me an email to say that those cards haven't been printed yet and I will have to wait until they are, so co.uk won't be any faster than .com
I haven't had much time to sit down with my cards recently.

I had mine out for the first time in a while last night..couldn't make tht much sense of themthough..never can when theyr're for me!..I guess we're too biased n not supposed to understand our own.

I agree with that, sometimes I will just pull one card out if I feel a need a bit of direction on something, and that can be helpful. Anymore than three and I find I tend to look for the meaning that I want rather than being objective.

I think that comes back to having to understand what the question is. The tarot goes after the Big Question every time, irrespective of what you ask.
So the first task is to clear your own mind down to find out what's really bothering you before you even deal, and then, if you lay the cards down for someone else, you have to clear down even more so that your own concerns don't intrude.
I accomplished that with my friend by getting her to discuss her concerns before I even started shuffling, and I kept her going right through the point where I laid the cards out face down.

I can only read for other peole that well in a certain frame of mind..I'm still learning how to trigger than state voluntarily. When I gett it , it doesn't even necessarily need to be my tarot cards I use..ordinary playing cards I've used before n just said how they 'feel' or rare just being near someone

What better way to start a new year than trying to concentrate on the learning-tarot-online course that I downloaded, eh?
This is one of the first lessons: Pick any card, look at it for a while, and then ask yourselves these questions:
a) What story do I see in the picture?
b) What emotions do I feel?
c) How do the details in the picture reinforce those ideas?
d) What is the overall mood?
e) What do I think this card might mean?
I tried it, and I picked three cards...
1) 6 of Wands
a) In my deck, the centre figure is a man dressed in green and red. He's wearing a laurel wreath.
Behind him to the left open sea and to the right a red brick wall.
In the sky the sun is hanging, big and red.
He's holding some of the wands in his arms and is holding up one of them,
with a wreath hanging from it.
b) About to make an important decision, think about it carefully so that you make the right choice.
c) Well, he seems to choose between the wands, picking one. The wreath seems to indicate victory,
which means the decision is important. The big red sun looks like a warning signal.
d)+e) Allowing yourself to take your time to make the choice/s so that you pick the right one.
2) 7 of Swords
a) One man sitting down on green grass to the left, dressed in blue, playing the harp.
To the right a man dressed in blue standing up, playing a double flute,
with 5 swords stuck into the ground in front of him.
A dark cloud above the sitting man, with two swords hanging down from it.
b) Dark undercurrents
c) That cloud, with the swords stuck into it - what if they fall down on the man below?
d) Currently: music and harmony, and idyllic - but...
e) Feel free to enjoy and celebrate right now, but be weary
3) Ace of Wands
a) A stone wall, with white clouds flowing over it, and a wand standing on top of the wall,
with acorns hanging from the branches. Background is a light green sky, with a kind of friendly
cherube in the air to the left, dressed in green, with a purse hanging from its belt.
b)+c) Light green, things growing - new, fresh
d)+e) New things to come, positive ones, looking forward with a positive and confident attitude
Well, that was an interesting lesson - would anyone else like to give it a try?
I wonder if I would feel differently about these cards at a different point in my life?

I think you would yes.Or if you were reading for an enquirer extra thoughts n facts may pop into your head..thats how i ind it anyway.I don't trust my intuition n psychic ability nearly as much as I should though.
I will try that later

Hanging swords -- are you familiar with the story behind the sword of Damocles? It's become a common metaphor in English. To me, a hanging sword would suggest that metaphor, and so I would think of potential for disaster. It's something you have to move very carefully around, hence it suggests diplomacy to me.
So one of the persons in the card you describe is under two swords, while the other has swords planted firmly in the earth where they can't do any harm. *thinks* So amid all these swords, the fellows are making music -- yeah, that's diplomacy! You charm the swords into coming out of the cloud and staking themselves in the ground.
I think you've nailed the Ace pretty well; the aces all stand for a fresh start of some kind, and I tend to think of the Ace of Wands as representing endeavor or volition.
And I agree with how you see the six of wands, too -- a victory, but perhaps it's a battle that's won, as opposed to the whole war, because what you describe makes him sound very in between one thing and another.

I wonder if someone could help me with interpretating a reading?
The situation i'm asking abut is close to me emotionally, and im having trouble seeing clearly.
The question involved finding out someones true feelings on a situation.

the high priestess, the tower, the queen of cups, the 8 of wands, the knigt of wands, the queen of pentacles and the 5 of swords.
