Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Jan 4, 2004
You mean
4
3 5
26
17
?
I used the smiley .
Is four the situation/subject, 3 the decreasing influences, 5 the increasing influences etc?
The Atelier Conservatory
Serephina Posted Jan 4, 2004
thats the one!
It's 1) the past (whats led up to the situation/still has bearing on it),2)the present (as the enquirer/subject sees it),3)hidden influences, 4)obstacles 5)the attitudes/influences of other people, 6)advised action. 7) likely outcome if advice followed.

You see this bothers me a bit. I looked up the Horseshoe Spread using a well known search engine and I'd found 3 different lists of what the cards mean before Serephina posted with a fourth list. and

hmmmmmmm ...maybe you can just use whatever you feel most comfortable with? that is odd though..

It's probably best to go with what you think the cards mean since you selected them. I do find it all a bit troubling though .
*searches through pack of cards to recreate Serephina's horseshoe spread*
Why can't I type horseshoe? I have to have ten attempts at it every time.

Maybe we should have a rule about describing a laying out of cards.
1. Name of the spread -- and a diagram with use of the < space > smiley is really helpful -- and the meaning of each position.
2. The cards as laid out in numerical order.
3. Some idea of what the question was that accompanied the layout.
I'll have a look at the spread later, but it seems that I like the philosophy (for lack of a better word) behind the cards and that makes me of less immediate use than someone like Caer.

I would be happy to reply to that, Mata Hari, but I don't understand it. It sounds like half a reference to the Chariot.
It will be a great help to me, if no one else, if you could speak in whole sentences.

I think Mata Hari may have been attempting a joke based on my ambiguous question in post 121.
*looks at the cards*
I'll have a go at this but I'm just a beginner, Serephina. The card I was most attracted to was the 8 of Wands at position 4 (obstacles). It always looks such a positive card to me at first - moving forwards, positive action - but something about it makes me feel uncomfortable. There's an element in it of being out of control. Do you feel swept up in a whirlwind or are you in danger of being carried away by something?
The High priestess has an air of mystery. Have you been relying on intuition about something or perhaps hiding your feelings? Or has someone (perhaps you) been making assumptions? But now there's a perception of forced change (The Tower)?
At the other end of the horseshoe, the Queen of Pentacles might mean that you need to be generous towards anyone who has misled you but the 5 of Swords suggests to me that you must accept that things are not as you have been lead to believe.

I'll have a go later, when I can spread the cards out on the table.

that all makes sense Amy thankyou. it was from someone elses viewpoint i asked the question though..it was along the lines of how do they feel about a situation
..which i am involved in.

Here's my worth.
I don't know how much detail you want and I could blather on for hours, but I will do a summation.
The Querent you did the spread for has been a very strong, independent person confident in their decisions, or at least over this aspect of their lives. Intelligent, intuitive and secure, probably the one that others have turned to. A major change has recently occured that has shaken their faith in themselves and has probably worried their friends and family over their indecision or inability to deal with it.
However the Querent does have a lot of support from those around him/her who will enable the Querent to move on or at least make a choice or decision that will speed the process up. However there is a danger of being too hasty and the Querent must learn to listen to his/her gut feeling and think the choices over rather than act rashly, and can then rely on what he/she will know is the right choice or path take, at the moment I get the feeling that the Querent thinks there is no way out. Once the choice is made friends and family will be supportive, but it will be quite a change from the Querent's present life.
The change won't be easy and it may mean leaving something behind, I get a sense of loss, but it will enable him/her to move on and attain a better life and I get the sense of it being career related and could be seen as too great a challenge to tackle. But if faced and the Querent has the strength to take it on and succeed, gaining both materially and emotionally.
I thought there was also a very strong female influence to the spread. But could just be the fact that we are all female here that are involved in the discussion.
If you want any thing more on a specific card, just ask.
Meanwhile, I need a nice hot

thanks for that Caerwyn..
'makes her a '
its not career related no.. but to do with a relatonship..my relationship with the person i read for. Things have been ..confusing.. and i wanted to know how he really feels about the situation. so i could be the strong female influence..even the queen of pentacles as im a mid twenties taurean.

Those were the most difficult sort of readings I ever did, trying to divine the sense of a relationship that I had a strong interest in the outcome of.
Please forgive the dangling participle.
