The main page for the atelier will be updated in about two days, but the present one still contains pertinent information and links to pictures of this fair place. I will be assembling a list of Salonistas and adding it to the page. We had discussed calling it a list of Regulars, but inadvertently bruised the feelings of some who don't post here so often, yet loyally persist in attending when they can, despite the Niagara of backlog.
So why not just call you what you are, salonistas? You may add the title to your list, those who carry brackets.
What I will now ask you all to do is to give a description of yourself as you would like to see it on the main page! Save me the bother of thinking up the insults, eh?
We have I think two new salonistas, unless Mac posted in conversation 3C and I just don't recollect it. Mac was drawn into HooToo when my co-landlord Garius Lupus used one of Mac's scripts to start the role playing game of the Mary Celeste (currently playing at a forum near here). And now we have Lizzy, about whom we know only that she is attending school and that she has a flute.
Our most recent conversational activity has been list-making, the h2g2 equivalent of taking 30 friends and a huge crowd of lurkers through one's home. We've been doing techie equipment, musical equipment, and are about to move on to soft toys, I think.
No-one has owned up to possessing an 8-track or a betamax. Or a laser disc player for movies -- those didn't last long, did they!
OK, Salonistas. Self-descriptions, please. Feel; free to modify and re-post as we go along until you think you have the right tone.
And newcomers, welcome to the place. As I said earlier, check the main page to get yourself oriented then come in in and let Matina get you some refreshments.

moving on at a cracking pace...
Salonista sounds fine to me. I'll have to think about how you might describe myselves.

Morning all!
Self-descriptions, Lil? It's too early in the morning for that, I fear. I'll have to come up with something for you later when the mind has kicked in.
Matina, some please. Thank you.

Munchkin Posted Oct 3, 2001
Munchkin: Short, rumpled, Scottish. Occasionally likes to think he accends to the heights of wit and jollity, but mostly just mumbles about Dr. Who and waistcoats.
Will that do?

Lurker extraordinaire, aspiring to anything. Don't touch his shoes.
I think that sums me up quite well.

Playing the Fool: Masked and in Motley
Hmmm... that's not only a description, that should be the title of my memoirs!
Caerwyn, before I forget, can I come over and covet your No2 sons's cherry red Les Paul? My dad gets tired of me coming home on holidays just to covet his 1960s Re-Issue Les Paul in Sunburst. Your son surely has taste if that is his favorite ax.
I didn't realize one of his guitars was a bass guitar -- that makes his quantity significantly more normal. They look similar but they are played differently.
I suppose one could have a steel string, a classical, a twelve string, an electric, a doboro, and a bass and not have exceeded any logical limit
*Starts saving his money to get another guitar*

Description later on...
Musical equipment/techie/whatever
- I just remembered I have one of the very first walkmans ever made
- almost entirely made of metal, needs 4 batteries, weighs a lot
- has sharp edges, comes with a separate padded cover and a sling for carrying it over your shoulder, like a bag
- mute button (to press in when someone tries to talk to you while you're listening)
- a radio cassette - put it in and press play, and the walkman turns into a radio - choosing stations by turning small wheel on cassette accessible through tiny hole in the lid of the walkman
... AND I've got the original package! One of these days I'll sell it for a lot of money - must be pretty near to antiquity by now...

And Sporky mentioned about listing shoes, and Arl worried whether that was a sexist idea, women having lots of shoes. Mine is rather short, so I'll lead it off. Maybe this will say more about us than we realise!
Here's what I brought from Florida:
2 pairs of ecco sandals, one pr black, the other tan
1 pair of very plain black walking shoes with velcro fastenings
2 pr of SAS lace-up leather shoes, 1 pr brown then other tan. Like nurses' shoes.
All these so far are flat-heeled.
1 pr of extremely useless low-heeled dress shoes consisting of soles below and thin black straps above. Since my ankle went bad they no longer fit the one foot, but I keep them as a memento of Other Times.
Since arriving in Lincoln I have acquired another pair of shoes from WalMart for 17 dollah, black Dr. Scholl lace-ups, and two pairs of boots for the coming winter. One pair is dressy black with fleece inners, and the other are sort of wellies, for the pasture, also with fleece linings, yum!
Cool descriptions so far...

Alrighty then shoes;
Three pairs black leather, one bought this very lunchtime, other two going in bin, as I can see my socks through them, which isn't very business like.
One pair brown leather.
One pair hiking boots.
One pair, oversized dressing up boots
One pair slippers which are at least ten years old.
And yes, they do all smell.
