Thanks to a holiday from another religion, I am now enjoying a four-day weekend (the best kind).
And Zax, I hereby name you the Saint Of Naps and Rests.

Oh yes, i can feel it comming...!
BTW, oh H.P., instead of naps, can i be st. of friday or saturday nights? it's more in keeping with my other sainthoods...
that is, if you'd even consider granting me saint status....
maybe a bribe?

Saturdays prefered, of course...
however if that's too much, i'd be happy to stick with naps and rests!! THANK YOU!

B.E. Dan, Might a lowly cleric be admitted into your faith? I feel that my little church may work amicably and truly well with yours. As I have no requirments that my congregants follow only the Brownie, might we work to bring each faith closer to the other? Humbly Yours, Archbishop Marv.

Agony Aunt (Patron Saint of Busy Bodies ) Posted Apr 24, 2000
pardon me for interupting but i had someone bring up a discussion with me today. they were stating that relaxing could in itself be considered w*rk...i attempted to have them explain to me just how this could be and they responded by saying that the act of relaxing took w*rk to accomplish. i was as you can imagine a bit confused by this persons reason and attempted once more to get them to clarify for me. once again this person attempted to explain by telling me that allowing your body to remain in a relaxed state was not natural and that it took w*rk to do this. still being confused but not wanting to exert the energy needed to argue with this person i instead decided to come to you and see if maybe you could help me with my confusion.

Far be it of me to introduce heresy into a discussion like this, but I had a thought. If one does not w*rk, how can one truly enjoy the weekend?

Occasionally we are forced to work, but when we do, it must be done with as little effort as possible. During the weekend, we are rarely forced to work, thus making it holy.

Somehow Marv's statement seems to make sense... And if one's unemployed, aren't all days then holy according to above?? And then the weekends wouldn't differ from other days at all and weekendism would have no meaning...
Whoops, I'm quitting this speculation... Besides, it's far too much effort to think about it...

Uh.. B.E.D.? Do you mind if i trade naps and rest in for Saturday nights? i asked earlier, but i think i either missed the answer, or it got drowned.. just don't wanna go making any assumptions... ya know? (i've got the link up on my page now, and it's in w**king order...
as for weekends being w**k... I'd like to share that i w**k 5 days a week, go to school 3 days, and sleep 2 days. who wants to guess how much i w**k on those 2 days?? Nada. Niet. None.
if done properly (ie, setting up remote control, preloading video into vcr, having at hand various reading materials, installing doggie door, training dog to bring newspaper in, setting coffeemaker on auto, and putting large supply of munchies in bedside table drawer under computer..), all w**k can be properly accomplished by friday night, thereby allowing for plenty of care-free effortless weekending.
I'm not saying it doesn't take w**k, but with careful planning and experience, that can be accomplished well before the fact..
It does, however take many years of dedicated practice, and determination to master the true art of a non-w**king weekend...
Saint Zax*
you are all welcome to come visit of a weekend, and experience the epitome of inactivity.
*perfecting the day...

The reason I didn't answer, Zax, is because my ISP cut off my service over the long weekend. Go ahead, make yourself the saint of whatever. And Marv (from back up there as well), I'm already a member of the CotTB, so I see no reason why you can't join up here.

I would have joined this conversation a few days ago but it meant that I would have had to w**k. In fact I'm so tired that I'm going to lie down and have another beer (if someone would get one from the fridge).
