Now, I've read all the posts on this topic, and most of them revolve around mad people. I've visited America many times (OK, twice) and seen no more cases of obvious insanity than market day in Hereford. Let's credit America with the things it has given the world that are actually rather good: Rock 'n' Roll, Peanut butter, mountain bikes, nuclear weapons and California. Hurrah!

Music / Blues / Eric Clapton / Muddy Waters
Has anyone else noticed this similarity? Can anyone tell me why?
You mentioned Muddy Waters - brilliant! But.............
Can you tell the difference between the intros on:
1. Muddy Waters' 1947 recording of "I feel like going home" on Syndicate Chapter S.C.001 (1971) Back in the Early Days
2. Eric Clapton's "Walkin' Blues" on Unplugged (Reprise, 1992)?
I think we should be told!

I guess you haven't been to New York, Researcher 26329
Anyway, the 'Golden Rule' dosen't work.
Would you have sadomasochist do unto you
as he would have you do unto him?
(I use 'him' for lack of a better word.
I'm not sexist, really.)
Ugh, now I'm confused.

America
Have you heard about the Texan who went to Australia. He was taken on a trip around a sheep station. The owner was saying how big the station was. The Texan said "My backyard is bigger than that". Then the station owner mentioned how many head of sheep he had, to which the Texan said "Gee my kids have more pets than that". The sheep station owner was getting a bit upset, when a Kangaroo hopped by. "Hay what's that?" Said the Texan. "Have you never seen grasshoppers?" Was the reply.
We all know that Texas is called the Lone Star State, well California is the Fruit and Nut state, because of all the fruit and nuts they grow. Well I think that's the reason!!!

Let's not lose faith people! We might again be able to to look to the "home of the brave" to show us the way forward. Sometimes from Africa it seems that the world is spinning out of control. Will "America, America.." have the strength of character to pull the world back on track??

In fairness to Idaho, it is mostly home to potatoes!

America's got a bit too much strenght of character as far as I'm concerned. They're all too keen to tell people what to do, what's right and what's wrong. They scare me, because they've got guns and bombs and massive hair.

As Kurt Vonnegut once observed: "There are one quadrillion nations in the Universe, but the nation Dwayne Hoover and Kilgore Trout belonged to [America] was the only one with a national anthem which was gibberish sprinkled with question marks." -Breakfast of Champions

I don't understand that, but my respect of Kurt Vonnigut makes me like it anyway.

Actually i know of one in Georgia where it is illegal not to own a firearm...The population is near 1000 people and everyone already owned one so they thought it would be cute to make it a law i think i read about it in Time magazine

Honestly I dont see what it is you are fretting about...yes we have guns and bombs...I have a shaved head but Texas does indeed seem to grow large hair...i would be more worried about what it is we are going to do with all these AOL discs that seem to Breed in the mail system. they are worse than tribbles and soon it is the AOL CD that will rule all

Americans are caring and compassionate people! Why, just the other day, I saw a wonderful example of this. A horse walked into a bar and the bartender said "Why the long face?"
