This reminds me of a joke... I'll try and clean it up here, but feel free to present it any way you like over a pint.

Three guys are sitting around discussing why the tip of the penis is shaped the way it is:

First Guy: "I think it's that way to give the man more pleasure."
Second Guy: "Nah, it's shaped that way to give the woman more pleasure."
Third Guy: "I think you're both wrong. It's so your hand doesn't slip off."

And, just to give this a bit more credence, I don't think Onanism was intended to be against masturbation, or wasting sperm. I think it was more against Onan specifically not because he pulled out and "spilled his seed" but because he directly went against an order of God to get someone pregnant.
