Caretaker Counter Part 14
Babel17 Posted Jun 7, 2000
Actually I got an email one day that said check out this link, so I did and ended up here. No idea if I ever registered back then, though I might have done, hence the low researcher number (my main email address hasn't changed), but due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, including moving house and a lack of monitor and convenient telephone connection, I was webless for quite some time.
I've only managed to get back here about a month or so ago.
So either I got someones old number, or when I typed in my email address it remembered me and gave me a nice blank userpage!
Must boot up my old PC and see if there is anytthing still onit ie old email whatever.
Will let you know the outcome, as I am very curious, because I cannot remember!

Redbeard, could you make a doppelganger of that splendid graphic to say "This page was designed to be viewed using classic goo" or something like that? I've decided I'm NOT going to change my work.

Finally got here... whole lot of backlog since last night. I *HATE* this new system. (Although I haven't downloaded the new skin... and anything is an improvement over the goo.) Can I have a mocha? I have my big chemistry test tomorrow, and I'm up to my ears in redox reactions and voltaics cells.
Thankee
How does one do the new smiley anyways?

It probably remembered your email address from before.
I see, so you haven't been active that entire time... I was wondering if your home page had been 'still under heavy construction' for over a year Hard to keep contractors on schedule, isn't it?

Hi, Ioreth!
Anything new takes time to get used to And they've still got some bugs to work out and upgrades to add.
The new is : - P
I always try to avoid sticking redox reactions and voltaic cells in my ears

Ah good to see the old simulpost still works
Hello Ioreth.
Yes Redbeard trying to keep contractors to timescales is difficult as my current house is testament to.

Redbeard, did my post a few minutes ago slide off the edge of your world? These blocks of 20 might get tricky...

Redbeard (Thanks to all who supported The Celery!)) Posted Jun 8, 2000
Thanks, Lil. Yes, it slid off the edge for a moment, but I was also trying to juggle cooking some bratwurst at the same time IRL
Absolutely. I'd be happy to make a 'this page best when viewed' banner. I'll probably switch to something like that anyway when I tire of this banner. Let me work on that... might be tomorrow. Got some other projects tonight.

Speak to you all later.

Night, B-17!
I'm going to take off for a little while myself, Lil, and start working on projects. I'll probably be in later for some coffee, and maybe I'll have a new banner made by then.

This seems a good place to discuss a dilemma I have in real life. A am putting together a flyer for a club of which I am on the executive committee (1500 members). In the flyer are profiles of candidates for executive committee positions to be voted on by the members in a couple of weeks time.
My dilemma: I have to edit the profiles to fit in the space available. Do I make my opposition candidates look good by turning their verbose prose into dynamic English or cut from the bottom as a real life sub editor would? Suggestions please.

Well, we're all of the same mind.
Ook, if you'll buss the tables I'll let you lick all the plates. Nobody even offered to play scrabble with you, did they?
Pierrot, come down and have a smidgen of the cake. You don't say much when Garius is away, do you. We need to find you something to do.
IIEM, let me have an Ook Special with extra mango and a few brazil nuts. Right. That's proper meals for youse guys.
*cleans IIEM, changes filters and makes sure both autopilot and transponder are functioning*
Well done, Ook. trash bag goes out the back.
*Pierrot starts attacking and popping the balloons*
Due to demands IRL, Lil will not be back till about 7 pm BST. Please relax and enjoy yourselves, and let the IIEM provide you with your refreshment needs.
That's it then. You guys get some rest. You know there's always customers coming through.

Hello, empty cafe.
Well I've got the new skin and it is definitely, definitely an improvement. But other than that, still not happy.
If anyone knows the difference between voltaic and electrolytic cells do tell, so I can pass Chem...

*walks in, looks around*
Hey Ook! How you doing?
>>Ook: Ook!<<
Oh, and Hi Pierrot... I didn't forget about you.
It looks like Lil is gone for awhile. Could you tell her I stopped by? I've got the graphic for "This page best viewed with Classic Goo" done for her. It's on my home page. The 'Alabaster vs. Goo" banner is also there, further down. And I've added a new fish to my page as well.
>>Pierrot: Aawwwk! Fish!<<
Mmmm. maybe I'll just leave her a note.
*writes note and leaves it by the IIEM*
See you guys later! Maybe some scrabble tomorrow, Ook!
*leaves*

Good morning Snatu -- I'm not really here, just dropping in with an attack of koffing that made sleep temporarily impossible. I have set up a new, next thread, at http://www.h2g2.com/F26140?thread=56577&post=416941 because I hate to see my friends clicking and clicking and clicking...
