And give up this counter? I'll have to think about this. I almost cried the day that we left the original 'plotless story' forum for 'Chapter Two'. Well, maybe. I'll have to think about it.

I suppose, it is a bit of wrench isn't it. But the thread will get less and less used and will eventually become just a reminder of the good old days

...that or they become strange and unexpected annoyances when suddenly a thread you've not seen in weeks, one that takes hours to load, becomes active again...

Could you also check out why people have a sudden desire to change every conversation into all the others - esp. talk of cakes and doughnuts.

Oh, this is an easy one for the Holistic Detective. You see, being a holistic detective, I must be prepared for the interconnectedness of all things. Speach changing subject is one of the largest levels of interconnectedness that we can easily observe. You see, almost any subject is connected to several others. Here is an example:
"Hey, did you ever read The Wizard Of Oz?"-You see, it starts inoccently enough. Read on.
"No, but I watched the movie. I thought that Judy Garlin played the part well."-You see? Already we're slightly off subject. Now . . .
"Well, I've always thought books were better than movies. Take the Lord Of The Rings for instance."-Okay, now we're really getting off track. We're still talking about books, but that could change any second now.
"Yeah, the books are definitely better than the movie. Have you ever read his other books?"
"No, but I've read books by C.S.Lewis, a good friend of his. You know, the Chronicles of Narnia, stuff like that."-Okay, now can you even remember what the original subject was?
"Hey, you know, I read his Out of the Silent Planet books. They were good."-Okay, now the stories aren't even about Fantasy any more. Now we're in Sci-fi.
"Yeah, those books reminded me of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy radio show."
"There's a radio show? I thought it was just a book, website, and BBS TV mini-series!"
As you can see, the interconnectedness of all things takes its toll here just as it does everywhere else. Now, why it effects the subject of doughnuts or cakes is something I'm not sure of. However, I'm betting is that that kind of talk can lead to marriage (marriage cakes), and that can hold some unhappy memories, even though it is a joyous time to think about. Well, I hope I have answered your question. For payment, just post three fish on this forum, so we can make people load up all of this stuff all over again. Bye!

Yes it has. Perhaps I really should spend more time at the SERVICE counter. That doesn't take nearly as long. I'll just leave this post to annoy anyone curious enough to read what I've posted. My final word on this forum is: pedantic.
